Get ready for warmer weather

Every Billy Goat brush cutter has a heavy-duty blade spindle that’s reinforced in four directions while the fixed rear discharging decks provide excellent stability in deep vegetation.

A fixed deck powerhouse

The BC2601HM series commercial-duty brush cutter has a 26″/ 66 cm wide fixed deck to provide excellent stability in deep vegetation.

The mechanical transaxle, featuring three speeds forward and one reverse, is ideal for clearing meadows and fields or cutting paths and trails wherever dense brush and weeds present a clean-up challenge.

The robust blade spindle is reinforced on four sides to tackle the toughest cutting conditions, including thick brushes, grass and weeds over 180 cm tall, and saplings up to 5 cm diameter. For greater comfort and high productivity, forward and reverse controls are conveniently placed at the operator’s fingertips.

A heavy-duty pivoting deck brush cutter

The BC2601HH series provides heavy-duty power to dramatically improve productivity and profitability.

It has a 26″/ 66 cm wide pivoting deck with high top speeds for improved speed and cut quality, and can cut saplings and brushes all at a rate of just under an acre of brush per hour. Engineered to glide over uneven terrain, the pivoting brush deck hugs the ground for a better cut. This minimises scalping and improves traction by keeping the weight of the machine on its drive wheels.

This nature-taming performer comes standard with a Tuff Torq™ variable hydrostatic transmission featuring fully automatic Enhanced Traction Control (ETC), offering superior traction in wet or uneven conditions.

A hill-side wonder

The BC2601HHC series, offers all the great features of the BC Series with pivoting deck and variable Tuff Torq™ hydrostatic transmission but also has the benefit of lockable front caster wheels to help hold hillsides making it perfect for use on hilly and steep terrain. The caster, swivel wheels also allow the brush cutter more mobility when being turned.

Ergonomically-angled handles with padded grips offer comfort and protection and the conveniently located swivelling front caster wheels controls mean that the user need never take their hands off the machine to shift gears.

Brush cutting tractors for the ultimate in performance and comfort

The Billy Goat Outback® ride-on brush cutters have set the highest standard for professional brush cutting equipment on the market. The Outback® Tractors combine the comfort and driving experience of a lawn tractor with ultimate performance in high grass conditions, often found in typical applications like orchards, vineyards, private meadows, camping grounds and holiday homes.

The Tuff Torq® transaxles provide plenty of traction while the user-friendly dashboard and comfortable seat make for a great operator experience.

The Outback® ride-on brush cutters are available in two-wheel drive (BCT4322BCE) and four-wheel drive options (BCT4323BCE).

A four-wheel drive for hard-to-reach places

The BCR3628BVECE Outback® 4WD Rider has been designed with a low centre of gravity in combination with a four-wheel drive system that enables it to tackle those hard-to-reach places that wouldn’t have been accessible to traditional machines.

The spacious platform provides sufficient space and comfort for the operator. The heavy-duty 92cm mower deck is equipped with swing-back cutter blades that swing away when accidental contact is made with a solid object. These features help protect the mower deck and cutter blades from accidental damage. For those with more space to look after, these features are all also available in the BCR4328BVECE, which has a wider, 110cm cutting deck.

Billy Goat products are available nationwide through Henton & Chattell’s dealer network.

GGM Group get on their bikes

GGM Group get on their bikes: A Lancashire business has demonstrated that it will always go the extra mile for charity, as the team at Groundscare specialist the GGM Group have committed to a year of activity to support the North West Air Ambulance.

The activity kicks off with a company-wide sponsored cycle, with staff getting on their bikes and riding between their two depots in Haydock and Colne along the Leeds-Liverpool canal on Friday 12th August.

Over 20 team members, from across all departments, will take on the 95km route, finishing off with a well-deserved team bbq to celebrate.

The business, which operates across the North West and Yorkshire, is following in the footsteps of last year’s highly successful charitable efforts, where the organisation raised over £10,000 for charities across the North West, and is keen to build on this success and keep the momentum running.

Managing Director Chris Gibson explain more:

“Every year we aim to carry out a number of physical challenges to raise funds for our company charity and it’s a huge highlight in our calendar. We’ve previously completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks and in 2020 we didn’t let lockdown dampen our spirits, carrying out a charity walk and cycle ride in socially distanced stints. We’re very much looking forward to this year’s event and it’s great so many team members want to get involved.”

The event will raise money for the organisations chosen company charity of the year, the North West Air Ambulance, to help raise much needed funds during these difficult times.  Since the charity launched in 1999, it operates 365 days a year and they have responded to over 24,500 missions across the Northwest and must raise over £9.5m each year to remain operational.

The GGM Group consists of two businesses across two depots. PSD Groundscare is the national distributor of specialist landscaping equipment including award winning innovative manufacturers Eliet and Koppl. GGM Groundscare is a specialist supplier of tractors and high-quality professional land-based equipment for commercial and domestic use. Servicing the North West and Yorkshire, it supplies a range of products from leading franchises including Kubota, Baroness and Amazone.

Chris Gibson concluded:

“I am hugely proud of what our staff have committed to do and it is teamwork in the truest sense. Not everyone regularly cycles, yet they have committed to taking part in this challenge for our charity. As a family business, it’s fantastic for us all to come together.

“It’s a key part of our ethos at The GGM Group to give something back to the local community and North West Air Ambulance provide an essential service. Amazingly they receive no government or NHS funding so every penny we raise for the charity makes such a lifesaving difference.”

UK grass about to get greener

UK grass about to get greener: Each year gardeners up and down the UK throw tonnes of powerful herbicides onto their lawns to try and kill weeds. But David Hedges-Gower, Lawn Association Chairman, explains why this is often a waste of time and money – and dangerous!

“Let’s be clear; a herbicide – that ‘harmless’ addition to many commercial or retail lawn fertilisers for apparently killing weeds – is a powerful and toxic chemical. Despite this, thanks to a shameful lack of regulation in lawn care and incredibly poor advice, our gardeners have for decades been encouraged to buy and spread these ‘convenience’ products. They are promised the benefits but are not told of the environmental impacts.

UK grass about to get greener

UK grass about to get greener

“However, grass isn’t just the most widespread and diverse plant group on the planet – it’s also one of the greenest, being perfectly able to adapt to the most extreme of conditions all by itself.

“So our lawns should be one of the most natural parts of the garden – all that’s needed is to maintain healthy grass the way nature intended. A good native sward, nurtured through basic modern lawn care, simply won’t leave enough room for a serious lawn weed problem.

And using herbicides is not just wasteful – it’s risky too, as David explains:

“In other sectors, all kinds of potentially dangerous chemicals have been removed from general sale. Here at the LA (Lawn Association) we believe it is time to ban the sale of lawn herbicides to the general public. Asking gardeners to use these chemicals responsibly is like asking all motorists to be able to service their own cars safely. Herbicides should be a last resort – and only used by those with professional training and regulation(for the moment)

So, what’s changing?

Until now there simply hasn’t been adequate training – for gardeners or for lawn professionals. Even with proper City and Guilds certification many professionals remain confused about vital precision spraying. Fortunately training lies at the heart of the Lawn Association, which is helping to reduce unnecessary and reckless herbicide use on two fronts

First, through its online lawn care course, gardeners can learn how to create and maintain healthy lawns without resorting to dangerous chemicals. And second, the Association’s new Level 2 Training (coming soon) will help ensure lawn professionals can use herbicides efficiently, when necessary, with confidence, knowledge and skill.

For more information or images please contact Francijn Suermondt at rabbitattackpr@gmail.com or on 07895184395.

Our core mission at the Lawn Association is to make accurate lawn care information readily available via our website and through our Free Membership Scheme for gardening enthusiasts. Go to the @LawnAssociation Facebook page to join the Lawn Enthusiasts Group, and get free association membership via the website, www.lawnassociation.org.uk
