Ireland’s New Fungicide Launch

Ireland’s New Fungicide Launch: Ireland’s greenkeepers are now able to access the latest in turf fungicide technology, to tackle both Microdochium Patch and Dollar Spot on their greens this coming disease season.

Exteris® Stressgard® was launched by Bayer to the UK market in early 2017 and is now registered for use in Ireland.

Ireland's New Fungicide Launch

Greg Collins, from the Bayer Turf Solutions Team, explains that the product brings a totally new category of fungicide to the market. “It contains a third generation SDHI, and is the very first of its sort to be launched in the Irish turf industry, providing a new tool for the greenkeepers’ diminishing armoury.”

He explains it is the formulation of two active ingredients (AI) that makes the new fungicide so unique. “The SDHI – fluopyram, has a systemic action that moves up through the roots and leaves to prevent disease as the plant grows. The other AI – trifloxystrobin, is part of the strobilurin group, and acts as a ‘local penetrant’ that offers targeted disease control.

“There are very few curative fungicides still available on the market, following the loss of iprodione, so a transition to a preventative approach is required, and Exteris® Stressgard® can help greenkeepers do just that,” says Greg.

Irish Sports Turf Institute trial manager, Mark Sheridan, put Exteris® Stressgard® to the test using preventative applications for Microdochium Patch control, and saw a clear improvement in disease suppression, compared to untreated plots.

“Turf professionals once had the comfort of curative chemistry, but with the loss of iprodione and other similar products, the future of disease control lies with the use of preventative, integrated management programmes.

“When Exteris® Stressgard® is applied preventatively, and proactive cultural practices such as aeration, judicious use of fertiliser and irrigation, are teamed with appropriate biological control measures, it’s possible to achieve significant turf protection,” explains Mark.

Key benefits of Exteris® Stressgard®:

  • New chemical group to the turf market.
  • Developed with Stressgard formulation technology specially for turfgrass
  • Targeted Microdochium Patch prevention
  • Dual active formulation
  • Flexible water volumes
  • Quick dry time and absorption
  • Aids in resistance management

Ransomes HM600 Launch

Ransomes HM600 Launch: Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc has announced the launch of its new Ransomes® HM600 flail mower. The mower features heavy duty flail heads from the revered manufacturer, Müthing.

Building on the foundations of the Ransomes MP wide area mower platform, the HM600 features a powerful 65.2hp Kubota turbo diesel engine and has been developed to meet the expanding needs of grounds maintenance teams.

Ransomes HM600 Launch

The HM600 has a cutting width of 3.2m (1.6m at front) with all mowers engaged, combining a high cutting capacity with exceptional productivity. In fact, the HM600 has the potential to save operators up to 21.5% on cost per each m2 cut over established less productive models.

The size and design of the HM600 brings new levels of versatility to flail mowing.  It is superbly manoeuvrable, can turn fast and cut close to parkland furniture.  The fingertip control of individual units makes trimming around obstacles easy. Operators can then fold up all units securely to transport easily between work areas and access confined sites.  The unique combination of this versatility and productivity can eradicate the need for a second mowing team to travel to the same location.

“We have developed the HM600 to tackle some of the issues that grounds maintenance teams face such as extended cut cycles and an increase in the variation of topographies,” Lee Kristensen, Ransomes Product Manager, said. “The HM600 features mulching technology from Müthing, ensuring a superior after-cut appearance, and an even spread of clippings even in wet conditions. The cutting units also feature rear rollers so the option to stripe sports pitches or finer turf is available.”

This combination of technology from Ransomes and Müthing will allow users to produce a clean, fine, rolled finish for sports pitches, or make light work of routine cuts, leaving an even spread of mulched clippings. It is also able to tackle irregular cuts, bringing the lesser maintained areas back under control. The HM600 can visit one work site with the versatility to do it all, the productivity to do it fast and the technology for a superior finish.

ISEKI UK & Ireland Launch

ISEKI UK & Ireland Launch: ISEKI UK & Ireland hosted an official opening at its new Ipswich home last week.

Since being founded in 1926, ISEKI has contributed to the modernisation of Japan’s agricultural industry as a full-time manufacturer specialising in farming machinery. ISEKI prides itself on extensive research and development that is matched with high quality manufacturing and assembly processes to produce a range of machinery for today’s demanding applications in many global markets.

Recent years have certainly proved successful when it comes to the distribution of ISEKI products throughout the UK and Europe by Ransomes Jacobsen. Following such successes David Withers, Managing Director at ISEKI UK and former President of Jacobsen, is understandably excited about seeing a wider acceptance of products through expanding markets and building yet more awareness, trust, and demand for ISEKI’s tractors and mowers.

ISEKI UK & Ireland Launch

“I started to work with Iseki when the product line came to Jacobsen in 1996 and I’ve always enjoyed being involved with such an exciting and reliable product line. When ISEKI outlined their strategic vision of getting closer to customers by investing in their own distribution within the UK it made sense and this is a really exciting time for the brand” said David.

Kazuya Tani, the European Managing Director of ISEKI, is also extremely excited by this latest investment, saying “We’ll be investing more in marketing and promotions of the ISEKI brand and want to see a wider acceptance of our products through expanding our markets and getting more share from our current customers. The commitment of ISEKI to the UK Market will be significant and we trust that the market will react positively to this approach.”

ISEKI UK & Ireland Launch

With the exception of some new key additions, the dealer network will mostly remain the same. For more information, contact ISEKI UK and Ireland on 01473 599266.

EGO Launch Cordless Tools

EGO Launch Cordless Tools: To meet the needs of groundcare professionals in terms of power, performance, convenience and wellbeing, EGO Power+ is releasing its first dedicated range of commercial cordless tools.

Powered by the patented design of the 56V Arc Lithium battery system, which delivers the power of petrol without the petrol, the range comprises three high-spec tools – a hedge trimmer, a commercial line trimmer, and a blower. All offer super tough, low maintenance construction to help groundcare professionals work harder all-day every day, even in the most challenging conditions.

EGO Launch Cordless Tools

EGO have spent a lot of time talking to professional users to better understand what is required from them of their tools. The result is a range of tools designed to perform beyond the expectations of even the most challenging user.

All three new tools are packed with innovation. The hedge trimmer, for example, has blades that are made from laser-cut steel with diamond-ground edges to ensure a sharpness and cleanness of cut. Unlike other manufacturers they are then laser-hardened to ensure they stay sharper for longer, even when cutting through the toughest hedge.

In an industry first, the brushcutter has a carbon fibre shaft which makes it more lightweight for ease of handling, but, even more importantly, it makes it extremely strong. Where standard aluminium shafts bend or get damaged, this shaft stays strong to meet the day-to-day routine of handling, transporting and storing.

EGO is already renowned for producing extremely powerful blowers but the new professional blower takes performance to a whole new level. At its maximum, the blower can blow at a rate of 1079m3/h with a speed of 212km/h and a force of 20 newtons. This level of performance is up there with the very best petrol backpack blowers. However, unlike petrol blowers, operational volume is incredibly low at just 80 decibels, meaning it can be used in even the most sensitive of areas without causing disruption.

Additional to these three tools, EGO will also launch a new backpack battery, which once again, takes cordless performance to a whole new level. With an IP rating of 56, this new battery is suitable for all weather conditions. There’s no need to stop and place a plastic cover over the top of it like some other manufacturers because its 1500 watt hour capacity will just keep on working.

“Reliability is a must for groundcare professionals, but comfort is also essential when people are working every day. The development of our battery technology is matched by a commitment to high-spec construction, giving users a suite of tools engineered for their needs,” explains Steve Roskell of EGO.

“The range is comfortable and convenient to use, delivers exceptional results and – backed by the EGO Arc Lithium battery – matches and even exceeds what can be achieved with conventional petrol-powered tools.”

The EGO Power+ Commercial Range is launched in Spring/Summer 2018. To find out more about EGO technology, please visit www.egopowerplus.co.uk
