Makita’s new range of XGT chainsaws

Makita’s new range of XGT chainsaws: Makita has expanded its impressive chainsaw collection with the launch of the UC022G, UC024G, UC025G and UC026G 40VMax XGT Rear-Handle Brushless Chainsaws. As part of Makita’s powerful XGT series, the new chainsaws combine power, efficiency, and convenience for effortlessly tackling cutting tasks both large and small.

All the new models are built on Makita’s advanced 40VMax XGT platform to deliver robust performance and extended runtimes and each have been manufactured with the same body and motor design. The key differences between each model sits with the choice of chain bar lengths that are available – the UC022G at 350 mm, the UC024G at 300 mm, the UC025G at 350 mm and the UC026G at 400 mm. Furthermore, the UC022G doesn’t require any tools for chain tensioning thanks to the easy operable handle for tool-less adjustment, whilst the UC024G, UC025G, and UC026G utilise captive bar nuts.

At the heart of the new chainsaws is a high-powered brushless motor that generates an outstanding 1.6kW of maximum output power that is comparable to 35cc 2 stroke petrol chainsaw. This impressive speed allows the blade to cut through the thickest branches with chain speeds up to 25.5m/s.

Operators will enjoy the improved trigger response rate that provides acceleration from ‘Trigger ON’ to full speed in under one second. Furthermore, should the chain lock due to load, the tool is able to restart immediately upon removing the blade from the load, without the need to retrigger, making it possible to resume cutting operations straight away.

As users would expect from the leading power tool manufacturer, Makita has included several thoughtful features into the design of these machines. Each has a highly visible felling line as well as an onboard automatic oiler with an adjustable flow rate. For user comfort and optimal handling, the models are equipped with an ergonomic soft grip that reduces vibration and fatigue during prolonged use. Their lightweight design further improves manoeuvrability and control, making them easier to handle in various cutting conditions, and safety features include a chain brake for added protection against kickback as well as a protective hand guard.

Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita UK said: “These lightweight cordless machines are a perfect companion for those needing to work on a range of different cutting applications with both speed and efficiency. With zero emissions, lower noise, and a brushless motor system that ensures you get all the power you need, when you need it while reducing the need for ongoing maintenance, the new XGT chainsaws are a fantastic addition to our powerful and expanding 40VMax XGT portfolio.”

Makita’s cordless power washer

Makita’s cordless power washer: Leading power tool manufacturer Makita UK has added the new cordless HW001G XGT High Pressure Washer, to its high performance 40VMax XGT range.

An ideal solution for trade professionals working with no access to mains power, it provides exceptional mobility combined with a reliable and regular flow rate and pressure, facilitated by three different operation modes.

The new 40VMax HW001G XGT Brushless High Pressure Washer offers a powerful performance akin to corded washers, with a maximum permissible pressure of 11.5 MPa. Three operational modes allow users the flexibility to control the pressure depending on the difficulty of the cleaning task at hand – whether it is light washing right through to the toughest clean required for building exteriors or farming machinery.

The advantage of the Makita XGT battery operation means that when fully charged, the washer can be used for either 60 minutes in the basic Mode 1, 30 minutes in Mode 2 and 18 minutes in the hardest working – Mode 3. The washer can perform with just one battery or with two in parallel, allowing you to keep on working even when one of the batteries needs charging.

The HW001G is self-priming, and water can be supplied from a tap, bucket or tank. A handy trigger lock function also keeps the water running without needing to be constantly squeezed.

As trade professionals would expect from Makita, key design features make it a practical option. Weighing only 8.5kg, a telescopic handle allows the height to be adjusted to 520mm, meaning it is simple to store. With large 140mm wheels, it is also easy to transport and manoeuvre, even on difficult terrain. In addition, rubber stoppers secure the washer in place on small slopes.

Finally, the washer is available with a wide range of accessories, including a cyclone jet nozzle, 2 XGT 5.0Mpa batteries, a battery charger, connector set, trigger gun, strainer, extension set and high pressure hose, allowing the user to reach and efficiently clean a variety of surfaces.

Makita also supplies optional, additional accessories for the machine, such as a variospray nozzle set, a foam nozzle set, a variospray lance set and a variospray lance extension set.

Kevin Brannigan, Makita’s UK Marketing Manager commented: “Our new Cordless HW001G High Pressure Washer is compact, portable and powerful – everything a trade professional or user might need, with both the freedom and safety of being battery powered. It’s a great bit of kit.”

Easy transportation with Makita’s DCU601

Easy transportation with Makita’s DCU601: Power tool manufacturer Makita has added a new battery powered wheelbarrow to its extensive LXT outdoor power equipment range. The DCU601 is equipped with an electric lift for even easier loading and unloading.

The DCU601’s electric lift can only be operated on flat ground, where it can elevate from 475mm to 1,020mm in approximately 30 seconds, allowing for the easy transfer of materials to and from vehicles. It has an increased maximum load capacity of 300kg on flat ground (0 – 3 degrees) and 180kg on slopes up to 12 degrees. It has three speed settings of 1.5, 3.5 and 5.0km/h, plus a reverse setting with a speed of 1.0 Km/h.

The machine is powered by two 18V LXT Li-ion batteries, but up to four can be used in series for a longer run time of up to 100 minutes. The machine will automatically switch to the second pair once the first two batteries have depleted.

The DCU601’s rear wheel axle is designed to tilt, to enable the front (driving) wheels to stably touch the ground for reliable driving even on bumpy road surfaces. The guard rails keep materials secure when transported and can be easily lowered below the flat frame by lifting and sliding them, allowing for easy loading and unloading by dragging rather than lifting materials.

Its soft start feature and electric, electromagnetic and hand lever-operated mechanical brakes provide full control over its operation, making the DCU601 incredibly easy to manoeuvre. The wheelbarrow also has a swivel lock feature, providing control over the direction of the machine, as well as its speed. Headlights, taillights, a warning beeper and a level gauge all add up to a safer operation.

Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita UK commented: “The DCU601 makes a fantastic addition to our growing range of battery powered wheelbarrows and outdoor power equipment. Its electric lift function has been designed to help users load and unload materials with ease, but also to make crossing building sites more efficient, saving time for more technical jobs in the process.”

The model is equipped with a dump bucket which can be operated electronically or manually. Easily controlled, the wheelbarrow has three forward speeds – 1.5, 3.5 and 5 km/h – and one reverse; and is equipped with electric and electromagnetic brakes on top of a hand lever operated mechanical brake. A swivel lock also fixes the direction of the rear tyres. In addition, the DCU602 features head and taillights, as well as a warning beeper and level gauge.

Compared to petrol-powered alternatives, the DCU602 offers equivalent power – without the exhaust fumes and CO2 emissions – and is also silent running. The brushless motor is long-life and maintenance free and a battery protection circuit protects against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating.

Makita’s Marketing Manager, Kevin Brannigan, said: “The DCU602 is an ideal solution for landscapers and builders looking to reduce manual handling on site. The DCU602 offers them a powerful and dependable method of safely transporting materials, without the environmental drawbacks of petrol alternatives.”

Specifically, the new solution converts power from Makita’s 36V battery packs to AC power for a wide range of applications – simply by connecting the PDC01 or PDC1200 battery pack to the power station.

The power converter has been designed to support a variety of requirements, offering multiple outlets that include two AC outlets, two Type-A USB output ports, two Type C USB outlet ports and one DC12V cigar socket. Collectively, users have access to a wide range of options to power multiple items when out on site and it can also be used to recharge Makita’s batteries for use with its cordless power tools or outdoor equipment.

Runtime is application dependent. For example, the PDC1200 will power a 1000W load for about 56 minutes, and the PDC01with 4x BL1860B batteries will power a 750W load for approximately 20 minutes.

Owing to the focus on portability and functionality, the power converter is also compatible with Makita’s Makpac system to allow for easy transportation. Measuring just 39.5cm by 34.5cm by 16.3cm and weighing 7.3 kilos, it can otherwise be handled using the built in carrying handles located on both sides of the unit which are retractable when not in use.

Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita UK, commented: “We’re always looking for opportunities to meet our customers’ needs, with our new BAC01 Power Converter doing just that. We foresee this being a highly useful and complementary piece of equipment for tradespeople working on large sites, or in remote areas where there isn’t a power supply available. It’s an easily transportable, highly effective source of power that is compatible with a variety of tools and lighting equipment.”

With a nominal battery voltage of 36V, the BAC01 has a maximum power output of 2,800 W and continuous rating output of 1,400 W.
