East Kilbride buzzing with new ProFlex

East Kilbride buzzing with new ProFlex: The Proflex is a popular mower for so many due to the independent floating decks. Each has shock absorbers to reduce deck bounce as the mower travels over uneven ground and the unique 4-way rotating swivel hitch allows the tractor and mower to travel across uneven terrain without affecting one another resulting in a first rate contour cut without scalping.

East Kilbride, one of Central Scotland’s most challenging and picturesque courses has just purchased a brand new Progressive Proflex 120 courtesy of Hamilton Brothers. On a course located near Glasgow which gets and average rain fall of 991mm a year and 18 hours of sunlight from May to Sept it was imperative for them to get a mower that not only gives a top quality cut and keeps up with the grass growth but delivers these results even in the wet conditions.

Scott Reid the Head Greenkeeper could not be happier with their new machine. “Once we saw this machine demo there was absolutely no way we wanted anything else. The grass drop off is second to none, literally never seen anything like it. Even in the wet it distributes the clippings perfectly. We have had mowers before that would leave an awful mess behind but the Proflex is a dream.”

A little known secret is an opening above the spindle which aids distribution of grass. Thanks to this feature that draws the air, it creates a vacuum type effect that then disperses the clippings out almost like a mist.

Another feature you will find on the ProFlex which East Kilbride were excited for it the industry exclusive Pro Lift-N-Turn™ system which allows the operator to temporarily raise the decks off the ground without stopping and with the PTO still engaged; all without fear of doing any component damage or impacting belt life. “The Lift-N-Turn is a really great feature that we were particularly excited about and none of our guys here have had any problems when it comes to operating this brilliant bit of kit. The Proflex has been a great choice for us.”

What are you waiting for? Your new contour mower is only a phone call away.

New battery kit contributes to eco aspirations

New battery kit contributes to eco aspirations: Step by step, Inverallan Landscapes in Stirling is changing the way it does business. By integrating battery-operated equipment and reducing its carbon footprint, it hopes to offer customers a completely ‘clean’ service.

Having recently purchased a series of new zero emission grass mowers and leaf blowers, Managing Director John Maxwell is striving to make the business fossil fuel free.

“We want to be the first landscape contractors that operate battery-only, so during the past three years have been upgrading our tools and equipment to the equivalent battery models, as well as installing solar panels at our business unit.

“This year will also be investing in an electric vehicle, which will reduce our carbon footprint even further,” he said.

“Our industry is conscious of its consumption of fossil fuels, so is moving towards greener energy. But not only is the battery kit more environmentally friendly, it’s also better for operator safety, as noise is reduced and there’s no emissions.”

Among Inverallan Landscapes’ customers is a local housing association with 1000 properties, which from April, will all be serviced using the new battery tools.

Other customers include private housing estates, business parks and green spaces, all benefitting from reduced noise and air pollution, and improved service efficiency due to the reduced downtime of the equipment.

John added: “Most recently, we purchased two Pellenc Raison Easy Mowers, which we were able to trial to ensure the team was happy with performance before we committed.

“Everyone gave really positive feedback, they cut long grass with no problem and are lightweight and easy to use, which is important when you are visiting multiple sites in a day. All our new Pellenc battery tools were purchased through Agrovista Amenity in Stirling.”

The Pellenc product range includes chainsaws, pole saws, hedge cutters, grass strimmers and mowers, all powered without the need for petrol.

Amenity Specialist for Agrovista, Allan Wright, said: “It’s great to see that Inverallan Landscapes is revolutionising its approach to service provision through the introduction of battery-operated equipment.

“With Pellenc tools, there’s no compromise on performance, and users benefit from long-term cost savings, reduced noise and operator vibration.

“All Pellenc tools come with a three-year commercial warranty and batteries benefit from the new improved four-year commercial warranty. I believe the future is in the use of battery equipment and the new technological developments from Pellenc are certainly leading the way.”

New SCH broadcast spreader

New SCH broadcast spreader: SCH’s new broadcast spreader (ref: GAM73) features a 73L hopper and is suited for fertiliser, seed and salt. As you tow the broadcaster, its wheels drive an all-metal gearbox, which in turn drives the spreading disc. The two wide-profile turf tyres give a high grip while being gentle on grass surfaces.

The spread width is 3-10 metres depending on the forward speed of your towing vehicle. An adjuster lever is within reach of the driver’s seat, which meters the correct amount of product to broadcast.

Ethan has worked at Campey since 2013, starting in the workshop as a New Holland apprentice while completing a three year New Holland agricultural course at Reaseheath College where he achieved triple distinction and was awarded the best academic student in his year. Campey has also expanded the role of product demonstrator, Dave Stonier. Dave has been with the company since 2015, having gained eight years of mechanical knowledge in his previous role and has worked as a product demonstrator throughout his five years at Campey. During that time, he has built his knowledge working with Lee Morgado on pitch renovations, demos and product installations in Europe and Scandinavia. Having progressed into the role, Dave has completed numerous installations and demos across Europe and has also represented Campey at trade shows in the UK, America and Eastern Europe. This hands-on experience made him the perfect candidate to continue Campey’s presence in Asia and the Middle East.

Speaking on the appointments, Campey managing director, Julia Campey said: “For the past seven years it’s been great to see Ethan progress through the company. Because he has spent time working in different areas of the business, he has a very detailed knowledge of the machines and how they work, and he is very capable of sharing that with customers. We’re all very happy to have seen him progress to this point and know he will excel in this role.

“Dave’s progression has been similar to Ethan’s in that he has been working with us for a number of years and really understands the machines and how they work. His enthusiasm for travel and knowledge makes him a great person for this job, and we’re all looking forward to seeing the progress he makes.”
