Bernhard Academy’s Spring online management programme: Bernhard Academy has announced the launch of its Spring 2026 online leadership and management programme, giving industry professionals around the world the opportunity to develop essential skills from anywhere.

Following the strong success of its education seminars and packed trade show sessions earlier this year at BTME and the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show, the Academy’s latest programme continues its commitment to delivering accessible, high-impact learning to the sector.

The Spring 2026 series features two development pathways – Aspiring Manager and Confident Manager – while also offering the flexibility to attend individual courses or mix and match topics to suit personal development goals.

The Aspiring Manager pathway is designed for future leaders preparing to take the next step in their careers, focusing on self-awareness, communication, stakeholder understanding and personal leadership development.

The Confident Manager pathway supports those stepping into or operating within supervisory roles, covering key areas such as budgeting, risk assessment, project management, handling difficult conversations, managing stress and delivering impactful presentations.

Courses begin on 9 March 2026, with sessions running through to 18 May 2026, all delivered online and accessible globally.

Sami Strutt, Education Director at Bernhard Academy, said: “The response to our education sessions at this year’s trade shows demonstrated just how strong the appetite is for high-quality, accessible learning across our industry.

“Our Spring 2026 online programme has been designed to give professionals, wherever they are in the world, the confidence and practical skills to progress in their careers. Whether they’re aspiring to step into management or looking to strengthen their impact as established leaders” she added.

In addition, the Bernhard Academy has confirmed dates for its specialist Technical and Equipment Management training:

Free online hub will mobilise communities for nature’s recovery: Today, The Wildlife Trusts launch a new online hub of step-by-step guides to empower people to take action for nature where they live and work.

The Nextdoor Nature Hub provides free advice for groups who want to start nature recovery projects at a grassroots level.

‘How to’ guides about nature action include advice on:

  • How to create a nature recovery group
  • Transforming unused land into a wildlife haven
  • Working across multiple languages and cultures
  • Getting funding and support from businesses
  • Publicity, media and events

View the Nextdoor Nature Hub at www.nextdoornaturehub.org.uk. The platform is designed to be accessible to all, using simple language and video explainers. Information is also available in Welsh.

People can also upload stories about what they are doing to help wildlife in their gardens, workplaces, and communities. The Wildlife Trusts want to inspire a domino rally of nature action, where people draw inspiration from others to embark on projects at home.

Nextdoor Nature is The Wildlife Trusts’ flagship community nature recovery programme and is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Since it started last year, hundreds of groups have been supported to create community gardens and wilder neighbourhoods, building community spirit for people and providing habitats for wildlife.

Nikki Williams, Director of Campaigning and Communities at The Wildlife Trusts, says:

“Helping nature is something every individual or community can do, and when we come together it adds up to a big difference. The hub is a place where people can learn and be inspired by others. From creating wildlife corridors between gardens to wildflower meadows on disused land, you’ll be able to see what people are doing across the UK to transform nature-deprived places into havens for wildlife. We want to create a domino rally of activity, where people exchange and interpret ideas to give nature a boost where they live.”

Eilish McGuinness, Chief Executive of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, says:

“Nextdoor Nature has been a fantastic success in its first year, with so many communities across the UK firmly grasping the nettle to meet the challenge of transforming the neglected green spaces around them. I’m pleased that thanks to National Lottery players, there’s now a one-stop place where everyone can go for advice and inspiration. Here’s to an exciting summer of events to celebrate!”

The Nextdoor Nature Hub launches alongside a programme of more than fifty events taking place over two weeks, from Scotland to the Isles of Scilly. These events provide an opportunity for communities to celebrate what they have achieved since Nextdoor Nature started, as well as developing new ambitions for the future. By 2030, The Wildlife Trusts are aiming to enable at least 1 in 4 people taking action for nature. Nextdoor Nature is part of the charities’ work to engage people of all ages, identities, cultures, backgrounds and abilities, supporting them to value, enjoy, speak up and take action for wildlife.

Making the hub easy to understand is vital to ensure everyone can grasp the nature and climate crisis and take action at home. Approximately 1.5 million people have a learning disability in the UK and 4.5 million people do not have English or Welsh as their first language.

Kubota launches online Solutions Hub: Kubota has launched an online communication website called Kubota Group Solutions Hub. This new platform, freely accessed via www.kubota-group.eu is an initiative from Kubota Holdings Europe (KHE) to bring together innovative customer solutions from multiple brands under the Kubota Group umbrella. These include Kubota, Great Plains, Kverneland, Vicon, Fede and ROC.

The Kubota Group Solutions Hub brings together various stories about customer solutions with technologies that enable users to successfully overcome industry challenges, under the themes of innovation, sustainability, connectivity, automation and efficiency.

Each story describes the challenge faced and the solution provided from each brand, along with videos and customer testimonials. And at the conclusion of each story, there is a description of how these solutions specifically contribute towards the achievement of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.

Visitors to the site can discover various stories shared by Kubota’s tractor, construction and engine divisions, as well as from Kverneland Group (Kverneland, Vicon and ROC), Great Plains Manufacturing and Fede. This new platform also enables the various Kubota Group companies to progressively ramp-up communications towards key industry events, for example the forthcoming Agritechnica event that will take place from 12-18 November 2023 in Hannover, Germany.

John Deere announces online careers event: John Deere is calling on former and soon-to-be ex-servicemen and women to consider joining its dealership network as Qualified Technicians.

With many transferrable skills, those with experience of military machines will be perfectly placed for a new career working with some of the world’s most advanced agricultural and turfcare equipment.

The machinery manufacturer has announced that it will hold a free online careers event on 1 September 2022, where attendees will hear from individuals who have transitioned from military service into the John Deere dealership network.

One speaker will be ex-serviceman William Foster who left the Army after 23 years’ service and completed multiple operational tours including Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Upon leaving, he was faced with the prospect of securing new employment – a task further complicated by the first Covid lockdown beginning just four days after he left the services.

Although he didn’t get the first job he originally applied for at John Deere, it did, however, make him more determined to pursue a career within the agricultural engineering sector and focus his attention on how to best achieve his goals.

“Not getting that job made me realise just how much I wanted to work with John Deere,” William says.

“I decided to own that dream, put a professional spin on it and see if I could turn it into my next full career.”

To gain experience, William volunteered his time at one of John Deere’s dealerships and secured a job at another, before finally landing his ultimate job as an Agricultural Engineer at Ben Burgess in Oakham, Rutland.

“The similarities between this role and my career in the Army are uncanny,” William says.

“I look at the depot as my Forward Operating Base, the surrounding areas as my Area of Responsibility and the Enemy as being breakdowns to deal with.

“If you can fix a tank, you can fix a tractor.”

The laissez-faire approach to leadership within the network is a breath of fresh air compared to the more autocratic one found in the Army. This was a welcome change for William, who first enlisted aged 17.

“One of the things I enjoy the most about my new role is that I can talk to my line managers and bosses like I talk to my former colleagues,” he explains.

“We have mutual respect, but the pomp and ceremony are no longer there.

“I also love that the iconic sense of humour so prevalent within the services is as alive and kicking in the workshop as it was on the tank park.”

GMA takes 3G pitches course online: Following a year of significant growth to its online resources, the Grounds Management Association launches its Level 2 ‘Effective Maintenance of 3G Pitches’ training course.

The online course is designed to help participants understand how to effectively maintain a 3G pitch to provide a safe surface, whilst meeting performance criteria and optimising its longevity. ‘Effective Maintenance of 3G Surfaces’ also helps participants understand the signs when a surface is coming to the end of its life.

With the role of grounds staff and volunteers diversifying, it is increasingly important for more individuals to understand how to maintain and extend the life of different types of playing surfaces. The course is suitable for both professionals and volunteers with basic experience, as well as others involved in sports facility management who wish to gain a better understanding of the maintenance and upkeep of these surfaces on varying budgets.

The course is available to purchase via the GMA’s website for a member and non-member rate. The association now holds seven online courses and aims to relaunch its Continuing Personal Development programme next year alongside its new website.

With restrictions now easing, the GMA hopes to reopen its face-to-face practical sessions that complement its online resources, such as its online courses and the Grounds Management Toolkit, later this year.
