PSD Strengthen SABO Partnership

PSD Strengthen SABO Partnership: A team from PSD Groundscare have recently taken part in a two-day visit to German manufacturer SABO, following the recent announcement of a partnership between the two organisations.

The trip was designed to further strengthen the relationship between the two companies. Representatives from PSD met with the SABO team and underwent exclusive product training both at the factory and in the field which they will take back to the UK and pass on to their dealer network and end-user customers.

The visit was hands on, and the PSD team came away with a greater depth of product knowledge and insight in to the history of SABO and the true capabilities of the exciting range of mowers.

SABO, one of the leading brands for high-quality battery and petrol walk behind collection mowers (“WBMs”) for both Residential & Commercial markets, announced in spring that they are re-entering the UK and Irish market. SABO chose to partner with PSD due to their proven track record of successfully taking specialist landscaping equipment to market.

SABO has established an unparalleled brand reputation for state-of-the-art lawn mowers of premium quality, reliability and lifespan with a high market share in the specialized dealer channel.

The trip has fully prepared the PSD team to develop their nationwide dealer network including comprehensive dealer product training.

PSD are focussing on the sale of the walk-behind mowers, which for many years were branded in the instantly recognisable green and yellow of John Deere, known and loved by both commercial and domestic users alike. In October 2020 John Deere decided to exit the WBM market and sold SABO to private equity company Mutares SE & Co who in September 2023 agreed to sell the company to an MBO (management buyout) led by Managing Director Lars Daniel and so finally returning SABO Holding GmbH, to private ownership. The range of collection mowers take the original tried and tested design and are now produced in a distinctive red colour.

Uncompromising brand quality has a long tradition at SABO. For more than 90 years, sophisticated engineering is combined with superior materials and functional design in Gummersbach, Germany. This has resulted in thoroughly reliable tools that make working in and around gardens as efficient and enjoyable as possible.

Never standing still, innovation continues to thrive with the  SABO E-Power Pro-Battery System. The professional battery-powered machines from SABO are the best innovative solutions you can get for effective and efficient operation. They offer powerful performance, flexibility and reliability to achieve outstanding results with any task thanks to their modern 56 V battery drive from EGO. In addition, all SABO battery powered pro machines are weather resistant. No matter what the weather, they are ready for use all year round.

PSD has a long-standing track record of expertise in long and wet grass mowing solutions and the SABO range of mowers are perfectly set up for working in UK conditions.

PSD Sales Director Stuart Mercer said:

“The trip to Germany was fantastic in terms of building on the already strong relationship we have developed with SABO. It was very interesting to see the rigorous process of product testing in action and to obtain in depth knowledge that we can take back to UK customers.”

Lars Daniel, SABO Managing Director comments,

“We were delighted to welcome the PSD team to our premises and to be able to show them around our factory and meet our team. Our success is built on our relationship with our distributors and given PSD’s track record I am excited what the future holds with them at the fore-front of our business in UK & Eire”

Stuart Mercer concluded:

“For more information end-user customers can contact the PSD Sales Team: Tel 01282 856819 Email: enquiries@psdgroundscare.com

Agrovista Amenity continues partnership with The Tree Council

Agrovista Amenity continues partnership with The Tree Council: Agrovista Amenity is excited to announce that it will be continuing its partnership with national environmental charity The Tree Council, pledging to sponsor the planting of more than a thousand trees. The trees will be planted over the next three years in community projects the length and breadth of the country. Collectively, as part of a team of green-hearted corporate partners, Agrovista Amenity will also support the establishment of fifty ‘Golden Orchards’, in celebration of The Tree Council’s 50th anniversary.

Commenting on the continued partnership, Ed Smith, Landscape Team Manager for Agrovista Amenity, said: “The Tree Council set an ambitious planting target to be achieved through community projects. As one of the Jubilee Partners, it was great to see this target accomplished and the huge amount of environmental, biodiversity and other eco-system benefits made.

Agrovista Amenity continues partnership with The Tree Council

“It was an easy decision for us to continue this support and be a Tree Partner going forward. We regularly join The Tree Council on planting days, and it is great to see different demographics and generations getting involved and recognising the opportunity to make a positive change to our environment. The Tree Council have always been forward thinking in terms of best practice, by using biodegradable guards, locally sourced stock and sharing ideas.”

The Tree Council’s Tree Partner programme brings businesses together to plant trees and enhance treescapes across the UK, improving the health, wellbeing and biodiversity of local areas. Community groups, schools and volunteer Tree Warden Networks (www.treecouncil.org.uk/tree-wardens) will apply for funding to deliver a community tree and hedgerow planting project in their areas during the tree planting season (November – March).

Agrovista Amenity and other Tree Partners will not only provide financial support to establish new trees and hedgerows. The tree-loving business teams will also donate hundreds of volunteer hours to help establish the new trees and hedgerows and to give essential aftercare during the drier summer months to ensure their survival.

Sara Lom, CEO, The Tree Council said: “We are delighted to continue working with Agrovista Amenity to do something truly wonderful for nature. Trees and hedgerows are heroes – they help tackle climate change, provide homes for thousands of species of precious wildlife, improve our health and wellbeing and so much more. By getting involved, Agrovista Amenity is helping to grow a greener, tree-filled future for all of us. We’re so grateful to them and all our Tree Partners.”

Launched to celebrate The Tree Council’s 50th anniversary, The Tree Council’s new Tree Partners programme will build on the successes of its Jubilee Partners who, between 2022 and the end of 2024, will have collectively supported the planting and care of 42,000 trees in communities across the UK, in celebration of The Queen’s Green Canopy.

One Kubota Tractor extends to full partnership deal

One Kubota Tractor extends to full partnership deal: What began as one Kubota tractor at one football complex in Eastleigh is blossoming into a prolific partnership between dealers Rod Gaskin Ltd and Hampshire FA (HFA).

In his day job as HFA Facility Operations Manager, Pete Hussey puts their Kubota L2501 to task maintaining the five natural pitches at the Stoneham Lane Complex. This positive first-hand experience puts Pete in good stead when in his other guise – conducting Pitch Power surveys to provide valuable advice and machinery recommendations to benefit hundreds of grassroots facilities in the county.

“Hampshire FA acquired the Stoneham Lane facility in 2020, and while I already had two other venues under my remit, this was the first with natural turf pitches to look after” explains Pete. “I started from square one, understanding what equipment we needed and working with local dealers to find the best fit for our site and our requirements. The first priority was finding the right tractor that would give us versatility, reliability and become the heart of our maintenance programme. For this, we opted for Kubota.”

Specifically, the facility purchased a 50hp Kubota L2501 with full cab and a range of additional features including cruise control and air conditioning for optimal operator comfort. “Most of the jobs we do will take a number of hours to complete so it was very important for us not just to find a tractor powerful and durable enough to use with a wide range of implements, but that would also make for a positive all-round experience for the driver.”

“In addition, we have enjoyed outstanding reliability with this tractor which is testament to the Kubota build quality and the regular servicing and maintenance conducted by the team at Rod Gaskin.”

With the successes of this partnership bearing fruit for both parties, the tie-up became official in September 2023 with Rod Gaskin Ltd announced as Hampshire FA’s official supplier of grounds machinery. Pete explains, “This gives hundreds of grassroots football clubs and now schools and local councils as well, access to a fantastic range of quality machinery from brands like Kubota with an abundance of grants and funding available via the Football Foundation. The possibilities of this scheme are very exciting and can be the difference between bringing core, basic pitches up to a good or advanced level to benefit clubs and communities alike.”

Tom Merritt-Smith, Groundcare Sales Specialist at Rod Gaskin Ltd adds, “We have a great relationship with Pete and the team at Hampshire FA and are delighted to be working in partnership with them to support the growth of grassroots football. Being sports orientated, I know the importance of maintaining football pitches to the highest possible standards. We look forward to supporting Pete, Hampshire FA and clubs in the area with quality groundcare equipment and our aftersales facility for many years to come.”
