Woods Charlerois Plant Reaches Full Production

Woods Charlerois Plant Reaches Full Production: Woods Equipment have confirmed their custom built spares and assembly plant in Charlerois, Belgium, is now offering the company’s full product range, with most products available either ex stock or within three weeks. Simon Richard the UK Agent for the Woods rotary cutter range says, “huge progress has been made since assembly began in January 2018 and this announcement confirms the Woods commitment to offering optimum service to UK and European Agriculture and Groundcare markets.

Since taking on the Woods range in early 2017 we have been amazed by the number of extremely old but still fully functioning machines we have become aware of. Machines like Batwings at 18 years old and single Rotor machines at 20 years. We have even come across a triple Finishing Mower at 30 years of age.  We are now asking owners to send us a picture of their machine at work, the serial number and their name and address. The owner of the oldest working machine will win a Woods 20 ton log splitter.

Trime’s Tax Efficient Method For Cleaning Plant & Equipment

Trime’s Tax Efficient Method For Cleaning Plant & Equipment: The safe and thorough cleaning of plant and equipment for construction, agricultural and similar equipment is pre-requisite operation. The environmentally safe containment and removal of mud, soil and similar contaminates can become a problem, particularly for those firms that do not have access to an outside yard.

In the past, the expenditure involved to install a permanent tank, which invariably involves ground excavation, made this exercise cost prohibitive.  However, the tax allowable, Government backed, water efficient enhanced capital allowances (ECA) scheme, has meant that firms can now set up a Trime X-Splash wash bay and place the investment against their annual corporation tax bill.

Trime's Tax Efficient Method For Cleaning Plant & Equipment

The Trime X-Splash wash bay is listed on the Water Technology List (WTL) which promotes products that encourage sustainable water use and rewards businesses for investing in them through the ECA scheme. The ECA allows a business to offset the cost of purchasing eligible plant and machinery against its taxable profits. The Trime X-Splash (models X1 and X2) were approved and added to the WTL in November 2017. They are the only wash bays of this type that are listed and now that access is closed to new entrants, this means that the X-Splash is the single system that is eligible under this scheme. http://www.watertechnologylist.co.uk

Paul Hay, managing director of Trime UK said, “If a company invests and installs one of our X-Splash wash bays they can claim for the full expenditure against their tax bill. Several of our clients have already successfully completed their applications and we are always on hand to help with the procedure if necessary.”

The Trime X-Splash wash bay is an ecological, flexible cleaning system for most types of plant and machinery. It prevents soil pollution and contamination of drains, from oil, grease, and similar chemical contaminants. The X-Splash has four factors that distinguishes it from other washing systems; 1. A recycling process so that the water is contained and reused: 2. A filtering system that ensures no contaminates are discharged accidently: 3. Overall water usage reduction:  4. A fully portable/relocatable set-up.  Trime UK offer a complete delivery, installation and training programme for all purchasers of the X-Splash system. They have recently produced a comprehensive training video, which details all the features and benefits of the X-Splash.

The environmental qualities of their X-Splash Wash Bay have been formally recognised by the internationally respected campaigners, The Green Organisation.

Trime UK Limited is an environmentally conscious company that supplies many of the leading UK firms with eco-sensitive LED site lighting equipment. The Trime Group is regarded as one of the leading suppliers of powered LED lighting sets to the worldwide construction and event markets. The company is now extending its line of equipment to encompass a range of environmentally sustainable equipment built specifically for industry. The X-Splash is their flagship product in this expanding range.

Duchy College Student Joins Vincent Tractors & Plant

Duchy College Student Joins Vincent Tractors & Plant: A Duchy College Rosewarne student has been awarded a scholarship with Fraddon based machinery dealership, Vincent Tractors & Plant.

This years’ recipient, Barnaby Hills has already started his work placement at the Cornwall and Devon Kubota franchise as part of his scholarship package as he works towards his Level 2 land-based engineering certificate at Duchy College.

Duchy College Student Joins Vincent Tractors & Plant

It is the third year in a row that Vincent Tractors & Plant have offered this scholarship to a Duchy College Rosewarne student as part of its ongoing commitment to encourage new entrants into the engineering industry.  Paul Vincent, Managing Director at Vincent Tractors & Plant recognised that there was a shortfall in engineers and provided the scholarship as a means of encouraging youngsters into the industry.

16 year old Barnaby said “I was really surprised and pleased to receive the scholarship.  It’s really interesting working on all the different machines.  The team at Vincents are great fun to work with and the staff at the college are really helpful“.

As part of the application process, candidates had to complete an application form, attend an interview and carry out work experience with the dealership.

Service Manager, Andrew Hoddinott said “Barnaby is the third recipient of the scholarship in partnership with Duchy College.  The other two recipients have both gone onto an apprenticeship within the company.  As a business we are keen to invest in the future and this scholarship is our way of encouraging new people into the industry.  We are training up local engineers to provide a good quality local service”.

Danny Sellors, Program Manager Land-Based Engineering at Duchy College, Rosewarne commented “Barnaby is settling in well to college life.  The last month he has had a lot of new experiences and is coping really well.  The health and safety unit is finished and we have moved onto engine technology, stripping down and assembling Perkins four and six cylinder Phaser Engines.  They are now learning about engine components, two and four stroke cycles, the differences between indirect and direct diesel engines, cooling and lubrication.  After half term the Level 2 students will be taking the first of three examinations, the health and safety exam”.

INFINICUT Enhances Plant Health

INFINICUT Enhances Plant Health: While mowing appears simple in its application, it can have either positive or negative consequences for plant health depending on mower performance. Attainment of correct cutting performance on sports pitches will include, but isn’t limited to, sharpness of cut; attitude angle and behind centre distance (BCD) of the bedknife; frequency of clip and weight distribution. MTD Specialty Turf Products explores the importance of mowing on plant health and how quality of cut has been paramount to operations at Watford FC, seeing them crowned the Premier League Grounds Team of the Year for 2017/18.

Beginning with sharpness of cut – dull or poorly sharpened mowers tear and shred grass blades rather than cut them cleanly, increasing the plants vulnerability to disease. A dull cut can be caused by a mower that does not maintain cut quality for an acceptable length of time.  This may be down to either a poorly designed bedknife-reel adjustment mechanism; an imbalanced reel causing premature wear; or a poorly designed cutting unit that “oscillates” during rotation.

INFINICUT Enhances Plant Health

Attitude angle and behind centre distance (BCD) are interlinked and an improper set-up of these features will not only impact on after-cut appearance but can negatively affect plant health.  The greater the BCD, the more aggressive the cut because the grass blade will be “dragged” prior to it being trapped between the bedknife and reel.  An aggressive cut also means a shorter cut as the leaf blade is lifted “up and back” prior to shearing. For a less aggressive cut, the bedknife is positioned much closer to the reel.

Frequency of clip (FOC) is the distance between mower shear points, determined by the number of reel blades, rotational speed and the mowers forward speed.  FOC is important in ensuring the correct quality is achieved for the specific height of cut. One should also consider the leaf’s moisture content – a high clip rate on a less rigid leaf can cause mulching.  The ability to alter FOC is thus advantageous.

The Cub Cadet INFINICUT® has been specifically designed to handle the numerous variables that modern day sports venues encounter.  Its ingenuous ability to alter geometry and working parameters ensures sward consistency is attained regardless of the time of year or conditions encountered.  Plant health can only be augmented by choosing the correct equipment set-up for the circumstances that prevail at any given time.

Scott Tingley, Head Groundsman at Watford Football Club said, “The INFINICUT® has become a vital part of our maintenance programme. We have two machines which are used primarily for match preparation, however we have used them more regularly this season due to the added benefits we found during the week. The quality of cut has led to a better visual appearance, but more importantly a healthy grass plant that has suffered less from disease. There’s also the added benefit of the health and safety elements – my staff regularly comment on how much lighter, quieter and more comfortable they are to use than alternative machines.”

Plant Up With WOLF-Garten

Plant Up With WOLF-Garten: Not everyone is blessed with wide expanses of outside space to grow plants, fruit and vegetables. A lot of people have a smaller garden, some may rent and are unable to dig up the easy-care patio beloved by landlords, and for some, access to green space is limited to a balcony or window-box. This need not mean that they cannot enjoy the colour, scent and pleasure that plants can offer.

Container and balcony gardening means that the joy of cultivation is open to all, and with a collection of WOLF-Garten Hand Tools, specifically designed with the smaller garden in mind, the job couldn’t be easier. The range has been created for working in areas where space is limited or in densely planted pots and containers. The range includes forks, trowels, a hoe and bulb planter, all of which are lightweight and comfortable to use, as well as being compact and easy to store. A major benefit of the range comes from the handles. Each of the tools has a fixed handle that has been developed with three specific zones which ensure optimum control, comfort and power when needed. This is all fitted into a compact,  lightweight package, with comfort and control at the forefront of the design.

Plant Up With WOLF-Garten

The 7.5cm Flower Fork is perfect for planting and transplanting in pots and containers, with its strong steel tines providing stability and the comfortable handle preventing pain from pressure points.

The 7cm Wide Trowel provides manoeuvrability around areas with limited space and makes planting up versatile plants, such as the hardy begonia or the delicate summer snapdragon, a breeze.

For planting areas with even less space, such as a window-box, the 5cm Planting Trowel is perfect. Its narrow width means that plants can be interplanted without disturbing their neighbours. It is ideal for mini herb gardens that have been suspended out of the kitchen window!

Once planting is done and foliage begins to fall later in the season, the 11.5cm Small Sweep comes into its own, neatly sweeping up fallen leaves and petals from even the tightest of gaps.

Luscombe Plant Hire Double Up On Their GreenMech Fleet

Luscombe Plant Hire double up on their GreenMech fleet to meet demand: Luscombe Plant Hire, based in Ulverston, Cumbria, stock a wide range of site machinery and tools available for daily, weekly, or long-term hire. After noticing that their GreenMech Arborist 130 woodchipper was hardly ever in the yard, owner Simon Luscombe decided to add a second one to his hire fleet to meet the consistent demand.

Simon and wife Beverly, along with their son Dan, started Luscombe Plant Hire in 2001 and this year they were proudly awarded the “Outstanding Single Depot Hire Company” at the EHN Passionate Hirer Awards. “We have a full range of tools and machinery from a wallpaper stripper right up to 8-tonne excavators as well as an onsite shop selling fittings, workwear and smaller tools” explains Simon. “The arborist side of things is quite a large part of our business, so being able to offer good quality, reliable chippers that work well is very important for us.”

Luscombe Plant Hire Double Up On Their GreenMech Fleet

They first came across the machines at the annual Executive Hire Show. After initially purchasing just one, the client base of tree surgeons, land owners and grounds managers meant the demand was more than they could supply so they added a second unit. “Since we’ve switched over to the GreenMech chippers, we’ve not had one bad report on them – our customers seem much more satisfied. They go out on hire for anywhere between one day to one month and everyone who hires them, say they’re really good machines to use. There has been no down-time due to breakdowns which, when you’ve got a packed hire schedule, is crucial.”

The Arborist 130 is a simple-to-use, cost effective, compact road tow chipper, featuring a generous 970mm x 790mm in-feed hopper, which aids bushy brash reduction, coupled with a 150cm x 230cm letterbox-style throat. The 23hp Honda petrol engine is protected with a steel bonnet, helping to reduce the noise level. It comes with a hand brake, overrun braking system and GreenMech’s patented Disc-Blade technology as standard.
