Andrew Frohock, Product Manager at EGO, said: “The HPW2000E brings a new level of power and performance to cordless pressure washers. With this step change in technology, users no longer have to choose between mains connectivity and high-pressure capabilities.”

The first pressure washer from EGO, it features a dual battery port – and the ARC Lithium batteries are compatible with all other EGO products, providing additional versatility and reducing user costs. Standard features include remote mode selection for intuitive control, plus power and battery charge level indicators all integrated into the wand.

The HPW2000E also has large 185mm wheels and a telescopic pull-out handle for ergonomics and easy transportation. A garden hose connector is included for standard hose connection, along with a siphon hose to allow water to be taken from any fresh water source or reservoir. Quick-connect hoses, an included foam cannon, and a selection of nozzles deliver complete control for the most effective, efficient results encompassing a range of different cleaning tasks.

The EGO Power Plus Pressure Washer has a nozzle for every cleaning situation, with all nozzles featuring a bayonet system which makes switching between them easy and simple. The design of each nozzle has been optimised to create a uniform fan of water, improving efficiency and preventing water atomisation. Turbo is the most powerful nozzle in the EGO range, for use on the hardest surfaces. The 15° nozzle is ideal for brick, concrete and driveways; the 25° attachment is for cleaning decking, wheels and ATVs; while the 40° nozzle is perfect for general cleaning of windows and cars or vans. A premium Brass foam cannon is available as a separate accessory for more specialist applications.

The pressure washer is part of a series of exciting lifestyle product launches from EGO in 2024. They are supported by EGO’s next-generation battery charging solution to ensure these robust products always have the power they need throughout the day.

Bionema release white papers

Bionema release white papers: Bionema Ltd, a leading biopesticide technology developer, has released its first of a series of white papers explaining how biopesticides can control turf pests that are currently causing widespread devastation due to the recent banning of chemical pesticides. This first paper offers helpful advice to those that work in the turf and amenities sector.

Insect pests such as leatherjackets and chafer grubs have been known to destroy turf on golf courses, sports fields, racecourses and landscape, causing millions of pounds of damage annually. Until recently, turf and amenity managers were able to control these pests with chemical pesticides, but those products are no longer on the market due to concerns over toxicity. Thankfully, biopesticides offer an effective alternative solution.

The new white paper, released today by Bionema, explains how certain species of beneficial nematodes (roundworms) actively search for insect larvae in the soil. They enter the insects through natural openings and release lethal bacteria that kill them within 24-72 hours. This is a natural process, as it forms part of these nematodes’ life cycle.

The new guidance document provides invaluable advice on choosing the right approach for the management of turf pests and explains that – when mixed, stored and applied correctly – biopesticides containing these beneficial nematodes can offer an effective, sustainable and cost-effective solution.

The white paper author Dr Minshad Ansari, Founder & CEO of Bionema, said: “When using any biopesticides, it is important to remember that you are dealing with living organisms, which tend to have optimal windows for performance. For example, factors like temperature, pH or humidity can have a significant impact on the performance of most of the biocontrol agents. Nematodes are particularly susceptible to ultra-violet light and desiccation, so biopesticides containing nematodes should only be applied early in the morning or late in the evening when there is less direct sunlight.”

By adhering to the application advice contained within the white paper, enhanced nematode performance can be built into a successful application regime by grounds managers, greenkeepers and landscapers to ensure effective pest control – without the use of harmful chemicals.

The white paper also includes information on the effective use of Bionema’s NemaTrident® biopesticide programme, which comprises three standard components: the beneficial nematodes; the NemaSpreader®- a biocompatible wetting agent that helps the nematodes to spread and reach the target; and the specialist training and advice to help customers optimise the effectiveness of the programme.

Dr Ansari concluded: “By using all three parts of the programme – beneficial nematodes, wetting agent and expert advice – you’ll get great results from controlling your turf pests with nematodes. The new white paper explains these steps in detail and provides easy-to-understand information on the science behind this biopesticide.

Polaris Release Ranger Stories

Episode 1 – Norway

Life can be tough for a resident in the northernmost part of Norway and getting around can be very difficult, although not for Sven – a Polaris RANGER 570 owner – who uses the off-road vehicle to carry on with his day-to-day life, even in the harshest conditions.

Kicking off the first of the Ranger Stories series, Polaris filmed with a customer in Alta, Norway, who uses his Ranger 570 for daily travel when conditions are too treacherous for a conventional car. Sven lives in Alta, a town known for its spectacular views of the Northern Lights and home to the beautiful Sorrisniva Ice Hotel, which is on the northern coast of Norway and only around 1,400 miles from the North Pole. The winter conditions can be extreme; temperatures can drop below minus 30 degrees Celsius and the landscape can be completely covered in deep snow in every direction.

With its dependable 44 HP Prostar® engine, the RANGER not only delivers reliability when it’s needed the most, but also has excellent fuel efficiency and ease of maintenance for everyday use. For driving in thick snow and ice, the RANGER 570 has on-demand all-wheel drive that means all four wheels engage automatically when the vehicle needs more forward traction and reverts back to 2WD when it doesn’t. Paired with handy accessories like the built-in winch mount, easy-to-install Lock & Ride Glacier Plow system, and weatherproof Pro Shield Cab system to keep the elements out, the RANGER is the ideal vehicle for an unforgiving climate like Norway.

Catch the first episode of RANGER Stories in Norway across Polaris Off-Road social media channels, or watch and download the video here.

GTC Release New Training Materials

GTC Release New Training Materials: The Greenkeepers Training Committee (GTC) has released a revised set of best practice learning materials for all levels of student greenkeepers.

Although originally inspired as the underpinning knowledge for the Level 2 qualification, the GTC Board of Directors and the Employer Group championed the revision of the copyright Learning Materials.

GTC Release New Training Materials

These will be made available not only to learners undertaking the Level 2 Greenkeeping qualification, but will also be available to all golf clubs to be used as best practice.

Prepared by industry specialists and based upon best principles and practices for golf course maintenance and management, the copyright materials are divided into eight chapters, ranging from health and safety, golf course preparation and maintenance to preparing a tractor with attachments.

The 327-page publication is available to purchase in digital format to anyone through the GTC’s shop for £150. For more information, see www.the-gtc.co.uk/shop/

All GTC Quality Approved Centres will receive a copy of the of Learning Materials, for use with all sports turf students on the various greenkeeping courses.

The GTC is supported by England Golf, Scottish Golf, Wales Golf, The PGA and BIGGA.

GTC Manager Fiona Lyttle said: “Each of the original chapters has been meticulously reviewed and updated by specialists from within the sports turf industry. Following consultations with our Employer Group, it was suggested we incorporate some additional aspects of what a fully-qualified golf greenkeeper should know. With this in mind, we have included more detail on soil science, as well as basic drainage and irrigation. Changes in technology, equipment and machinery have also necessitated an extensive update. The GTC has ensured the materials are suitable for everyone from apprentices to golf course managers with all subjects comprehensively covered.”

For further information on the GTC’s Learning Materials, contact GTC Administrator Emma Willis on 01347 838640 and emma@the-gtc.co.uk
