GreenThumb launches revolutionary hard surface treatments

GreenThumb launches revolutionary hard surface treatments: GreenThumb, the UK’s largest lawn care service, today announces the nationwide rollout of its groundbreaking Hard Surface Treatments – the latest innovation designed to restore, revive and renew both commercial and residential outdoor spaces.

After successful customer trials, piloted with franchise partners across the UK, GreenThumb is expanding its service offering beyond lawns, reinforcing its position as a holistic out of home care provider. The Hard Surface Treatments bring a unique, sustainable solution to homeowners, businesses, and local authorities looking to rejuvenate outdoor surfaces without using harsh chemicals or invasive methods.

GreenThumb’s Hard Surface Treatments include a multi-purpose, plant and mineral based product that progressively cleans hard surfaces over time, without the need for jet washing, scrubbing, or harsh chemicals. Suitable for a wide range of surfaces including patios, paths, decking and driveways, it offers a safe and eco-conscious choice for both public and private use.

Customers have said “I didn’t believe this would work” and “The results speak for themselves”, noting the no-prep, no-post-clean-up experience as a game-changer. The product works gradually, capturing dirt in the crystals it forms, ensuring that surfaces are cleaned without damage or disruption, which makes it perfect for homeowners as well as commercial and municipal hard surfaces, like car parks or amenity spaces.

The new service marks a significant milestone in GreenThumb’s journey to diversify its offerings. By addressing not only lawn health but also the cleanliness and longevity of hardscapes, GreenThumb is reshaping what it means to care for outdoor spaces.

Paul Edwards, Managing Director of GreenThumb, said: “We’re thrilled to bring our Hard Surface Treatments to all our customers and to extend our services to commercial clients through our UK-wide network. Alongside our Hard Surface Weed Control, our treatments’ innovation reflects our commitment to sustainability, effectiveness, and making outdoor care simple for everyone. It’s the next natural step in expanding GreenThumb’s vision.”

GreenThumb has also launched an advertising campaign for its Hard Surface Treatments which will run until the end of August across ITV channels via ITVx, to further widen its reach and relevance. The messaging will also appear across YouTube and Meta channels, Facebook and Instagram.

Dennis Launches Revolutionary Multi Charger Hub: Dennis has unveiled its latest advancement in sustainable technology: the Multi Charger Hub.

This new product significantly enhances the efficiency and convenience of charging their acclaimed E-Series battery-powered mowers.

The E-Series, known for its eco-friendly and high-performance battery-powered mowers, has already set a new standard in the industry. With models such as the ES-34R, ES-860, ES-760, ES-30, and ES-36, these mowers offer versatility, reduced carbon emissions, and operational quietness, catering to the growing demand for sustainable solutions.

Now, with the introduction of the Multi Charger Hub, owners of these innovative mowers are poised to experience even greater benefits.

Efficient Charging Solution

The Multi Charger Hub is designed to streamline the charging process for multiple E-Series mowers, offering a host of features tailored to the needs of professional grounds persons:

  • Sequentially Charging: This mobile unit can recharge up to 8 large E-Series machines, ensuring that all mowers are ready for use without the hassle of multiple chargers.
  • Intelligent Charging System: The Hub includes a smart system that shuts down each mower at 100% charge, preventing overcharging and preserving battery life. The display screen provides a clear indication of each mower’s state of charge (SOC) and highlights which machine is currently being charged.
  • Convenient Design: The easily manoeuvrable trolley design allows for convenient positioning in workshops, reducing clutter and optimising workspace efficiency. Individual cable connections prevent unused wires from trailing across the floor, enhancing safety and organisation.
  • Storage Solutions: The Hub features top box storage for all individual charger cables and additional under-cabinet storage for spares or service items, keeping everything neatly organised and within reach.
  • Versatile Charging Options: Capable of charging all connected mowers to a selected level before moving on to 100% SOC, the Hub can charge from low to high or high to low. It also has a default setting that charges all connected mowers to 60% initially, then completes the charge to 100%, ensuring all mowers have sufficient charge for short turnaround times.
  • Manual Override and Display Features: Users can manually skip to the next mower if required, and the display shows all connected mowers’ SOC and indicates which machine is being charged. This feature allows for precise control over the charging process.

The Multi Charger Hub addresses common challenges associated with battery-powered equipment, such as avoiding deep discharge—a condition that can occur if a machine is stored at 0% charge. The Hub’s ability to bring all mowers to a safe charge level prevents this issue, ensuring the longevity and reliability of the batteries.

Technical Specifications

  • Powerful Charging Capability: The 3kW charger can charge an individual machine from 0-100% in less than 2 hours. Overnight, it can charge all 8 machines from 10%-15% to 100%, making it ideal for busy schedules.
  • User-Friendly Interface: The Hub automatically cycles through each connected mower, displaying each mower’s SOC on the screen. The mower’s console also shows the charging status, providing a consistent user experience whether charging individually or via the Hub.

With the launch of the Multi Charger Hub, Dennis continues to lead the way in providing innovative, sustainable solutions for turf maintenance professionals.

Revolutionary garden tractor

Revolutionary garden tractor: The garden tractor world is about to be revolutionised with the launch of the first fully button operated machines that boast the largest mowing area on a single charge for battery power.

The simple to use STIGA Series 7 machines are smartphone compatible with a simple one pedal drive system. The two machines in the range are innovative and have been meticulously engineered in Italy to meet the needs of garden owners with very large lawns.  They both offer run times of 110 minutes on a single battery charge.

There are two models in the 7 Series:  The Tornado, a side-discharge machine that cuts up to 7,500 square metres, and the Estate which offers a collection facility that will cut areas up to 7,000 square metres, both on a single charge. This is the largest area ever covered by a battery powered tractor across the industry.

The new models have been designed with simplicity in mind, being fully electric removes the need for multiple levers and complicated procedures. Using the intuitive STIGA dashboard, the full range of functions can be managed directly from the driver’s seat with the touch of a button.  All operations can be carried out effortlessly, from starting up the machine, adjusting the blades’ speed and cutting height, all the way to emptying the collection bag.

Furthermore, STIGA electric tractors are equipped with a Bluetooth module that connects the machine’s electronic “brain” – the STIGA Vehicle Management System – to a smartphone, creating a seamless connection to the STIGA.GO App. This allows the user’s phone to work as a true virtual dashboard, illustrating all key information whilst cutting the lawn. Thanks to STIGA’s unique electric powertrain and One Pedal Drive system, just one pedal is enough to operate the entire electric tractor with smooth acceleration, deceleration and effortless parking.

Two motors power the STIGA patented blades that perform a precise, neat and efficient cut every time. Additionally users can enjoy a pleasant ride, even during longer sessions, thanks to a comfortable seating design, coupled with electric battery technology, generating less vibration, noise and no fumes or unpleasant smells. The machine’s cutting deck, blade positioning and orientation improves the cut’s uniformity, whilst its central tunnel design boosts collecting performance and helps prevent blockages in the chute. The collection bag has been created with a wedge-shape allowing it to fill to capacity and facilitate efficient emptying operations.

The new STIGA Series 7 tractors are available to purchase, with a retail price starting from £6,614 for the Tornado and £6,877 for the Estate.

Turf Tank One makes revolutionary change

Turf Tank One makes revolutionary change: Bromsgrove School has taken a revolutionary step forward in line marking with their new Turf Tank One.

The co-educational day and boarding school was founded in 1553, with the vast one hundred acre site woven into the centre of Bromsgrove. Among it is the Sports Centre, where there are facilities for rugby, football, cricket, hockey, tennis and a vast array of others.

Turf Tank One makes revolutionary change

At the beginning of the school term in September, Head Groundsperson Richard Hare and his team have to prepare 15 rugby pitches across three different sites, with three groups of staff taking a week to initially mark out and prepare them.

Introducing the Turf Tank to this process is a game-changer for the Bromsgrove grounds team, and for Richard, they are now working with what he thinks is the future of line marking.

“When I first saw the Turf Tank One at the demo, I was absolutely amazed, and having used it, it’s revolutionary,” Richard begins.

“It just makes the job a hundred times easier, all the lines are dead straight, and there’s no mess, that’s the other big thing, it’s clean, and it is good to use, it’s easy, and for us, it’s been really, really good.

“We’ve marked in five pitches and the training grids which would have taken two members of staff at least three or four days, and we’ve done that in less than a day and to a high standard as well. Every pitch is a different size; there are no two pitches that are the same because of the different age groups playing sport and the way we have to fit the pitches in around the site.

“This makes it into a one-person job who can set it all up, keep an eye on it and do other things as well. And that’s not trying to make people redundant or anything like that, because as everybody will tell you, there’s always lots of things that people can be doing. And because staff can be working on other jobs, it will help us to raise our standards around the site.”

Bromsgrove’s transition into robotic line marking has been seamless with the help of Turf Tank’s Regional Manager for the North, Matt Murray. A comprehensive demo and installation have been key to all staff members being comfortable with the robot and ensuring they get the most from the customisable pitch, grid, logo and number options.

“Matt has been absolutely fantastic from day one,” Richard explains. “We set up a training day, and this is the second full day he’s been here, and he’s on the end of the phone all the time if we need any questions answered.

“When he first visited, he went through all the templates with us and set them up, and it’s superb. It’s the way that we can change as well because, like most schools, we’ll have to change from rugby after Christmas into football, so we have to go through all the pitches again, and change them all to football or training grids or whatever we need at the time. So, it’s unbelievable the changes it’s going to make for us.”

Throughout the past year, many schools, contractors, and professional and amateur sports teams have transformed their line marking operation with the Turf Tank One. Exceptional accuracy using a base station, customisable templates for pitches, logos and numbers, and huge time savings have set the robot apart from alternative methods.

In August 2021, Bromsgrove School began marking their 15 rugby pitches across three sites using the Turf Tank One, and for Head Groundsperson Richard Hare, it has been a revelation.

“When I first saw the Turf Tank One at the demo, I was absolutely amazed, and having used it, it’s revolutionary,” Richard begins.
