New AS 990 Tahr RC rotary mower enters series production

New AS 990 Tahr RC rotary mower enters series production: Series production of the new remote-controlled sickle mower from AS-Motor has begun, and the first machines have already been delivered. With the AS 990 Tahr RC, the high grass specialist is expanding its RC portfolio with a mower that impresses above all with its bidirectional mowing mode and extreme slope capability.

Faster mowing on steep slopes

The AS 990 Tahr RC operates without a conventional direction of travel. Its sickle mower, which is open on both sides, enables a clean cut forwards and backwards, including even clippings distribution. There is no need to turn after each pass. This saves time and significantly increases the area coverage. The proven cross-blade system from the Sherpa family delivers high cutting power. Grass and scrub up to 1.5 metres high are cut at high speed by two pendulum blades and shredded by the cutter bar above. The large-area deposit of the cut material facilitates its rapid decomposition.

The caterpillar design with even weight distribution, large support width and low centre of gravity ensures high traction in every driving situation, uphill, downhill and across slopes. With a slope capability of up to 56 degrees (across the slope), the machine remains stable and controllable. Only the caterpillar tracks have contact with the ground, which reduces the risk of getting stuck and protects the turf. The low ground pressure of only 0.14 kg/cm² underlines the soil-conserving approach.

Intuitive control, high area coverage

The remote control, reduced to the essentials, enables precise working even in demanding terrain. It is child’s play to mow straight lines or turn on the spot if necessary. The automatic reversal (left/right) of the control lever saves you having to rethink when changing direction. In practice, the AS 990 Tahr RC achieves an area coverage of up to 4,500 m² per hour.

Simple and robust – typical AS-Motor

AS-Motor also focuses on maximum robustness and low complexity with the AS 990 Tahr RC. The design is geared towards durability, low susceptibility to faults and easy maintenance, with a solid square steel tube frame, the established cross blade system from the Sherpa series, reliable hydrostatic drives from Hydro-Gear and the proven engine from the AS 940 Sherpa. The asymmetrical crawler track prevents the chains from jumping off, and their tension can be quickly checked and adjusted. Easily accessible service points, a hinged engine cover, few wear parts and moderate fuel consumption of around 4.5 litres per hour ensure economical operation. The compact dimensions, low weight of 502 kg and sturdy lashing points facilitate transport and handling, even in a van.

Safe mowing with the new AS 990 Tahr RC

In addition to productivity and robustness, the AS 990 Tahr RC focuses on user safety. Remote control operation significantly increases this, especially on steep slopes. Users work outside the danger zone, with less dust and noise exposure. Triple ejection protection reduces the risk of stone chips, and an automatic parking brake engages when the machine is stationary or in an emergency stop. Optionally available LED headlights also improve visibility in difficult lighting conditions.

Thanks to its green laser beam, visibility is significantly improved over red laser models, especially in bright daylight conditions. Users can select from static, or three rotation speeds: 150, 300, 600 rpm and three scan angles: 10°, 20°, 30° depending on application needs, adding to the tool’s adaptability and versatility.

The SKR001 is extremely flexible given it is compatible with three Makita battery platforms, CXT (12V), LXT (18V) and XGT (40V) can all be used to power the laser when fitted with the respective battery tray options. The Rotary Laser also comes equipped with a Bluetooth remote control (RC1) for operation up to 100 meters and features auto shut off and anti-drift systems to maintain laser integrity. Run time is equally impressive, with up to 160 hours of continuous use with a 40VMax 4.0Ah XGT battery, ensuring minimal downtime.

Built for real-world jobsite durability, this Rotary Laser features IP67-rated protection against dust and water, as well as shock-absorbing rubber bumpers to safeguard the unit from drops of up to 2 meters. Weighing only 4kg (without battery), it is a manageable weight yet sturdy enough for demanding and daily professional use.

“With a green beam to provide clear visibility and its multi-platform battery support, the SKR001 sets a new benchmark for cordless rotary lasers. It’s a must-have for professionals looking for flexibility and high performance,” commented Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita.

The SKR001 is supplied with an 18V LXT battery tray holder as standard.

Toro’s out-front electric rotary now all-wheel drive

Toro’s out-front electric rotary now all-wheel drive: Predicted by Toro to bring operational savings on fuel, fluid, parts, routine maintenance, and labour to promote a positive return on investment, the all-new lithium-ion battery-powered Groundsmaster e3300 out-front rotary from Reesink Turfcare is now available with all-wheel drive.

The out-front rotary mower is considered by most groundscare professionals as an essential frontline machine and Toro, in its constant quest for providing ultra-productive and sustainable solutions for its customers, has developed an all-wheel drive electric version with the proven performance of the brand’s popular all-wheel drive diesel model.

Toro’s out-front electric rotary now all-wheel drive

At its core, there’s everything that makes the traditional Groundsmaster an industry favourite – the same rugged chassis, commercial-grade mowing deck and operator comfort, but now with CrossTrax all-wheel drive optimising traction and the option of a 60- or 72-inch side or rear discharge deck built from high-strength steel.

Under the hood there’s 11 powerful HyperCell batteries for all-day runtime and the option of adding another six batteries for the most challenging environments, tough terrain, and demanding schedules.

Operation is now emission-free for a cleaner environment and it’s quieter. Reduced noise levels open up the options for when and where mowing can take place: earlier in the morning, later in the day, in sound sensitive areas like schools, university campuses and public parks – making time management that much easier and productivity levels that much higher.

When it’s time to head back to the charging station, a battery reserve setting ensures there’s enough power to get there and the onboard InfoCentre gives real-time visibility into battery status, settings, and alerts — keeping range anxiety at bay and everything running smoothly.

Jon Cole, Business Development Manager – Reesink Turfcare, says: “There’s no difference in the machine’s ability to get the job done with the change in the power supply – it’s more that with the CrossTrax all-wheel drive, operators are going to see a huge leap in productivity. Customers can still expect to mow up to nine acres an hour and it still provides a solid solution to many of the issues groundscare professionals face today: reduced mowing cycles, limited budgets and the requirement for year-round productivity.”

Customers can contact Reesink to arrange a demo at their site at a convenient time simply by contenting their local dealer or Reesink on 01480 226800 or visit reesinkturfcare.co.uk.

Reesink’s rotary blade offer

Reesink’s rotary blade offer: Reesink Turfcare is offering 10 percent off genuine Toro rotary blades in May to ensure there’s nothing holding you back from delivering the perfect cut in the busiest season of the year.

Never underestimate the importance of your rotary blades. If blunt or unbalanced, you can expect a poor cut and poor after-cut appearance, but also your machine’s performance, productivity, economy and longevity is impacted.

Reesink's rotary blade offer

Reesink’s rotary blade offer

Michael Hampton, parts manager at Reesink, says: “One of the most important things you can do for the overall performance of your machine is to make sure the blades fit properly and are sharp. Otherwise, your machine has to work that much harder to deliver and it can even lead to recuts. It also has a negative impact on fuel economy and cause additional wear and tear to your machine.”

Toro’s genuine rotary blades are designed for success. The brand’s advanced research and development into this essential part means that when a Toro deck is paired with Toro blades a superior clipping dispersal and after-cut appearance is the result.

Not just that though, rigorous testing means they’re proven to be safer too and optimal grass dispersion for side or rear discharge and recycling movement for mulching decks is guaranteed.

So, what about choosing the right blade? Toro’s precisely engineered blades fit the cutting deck perfectly, but each is carefully crafted to specific turf needs. For example, the ‘High Sail’ is best for spring when the grass is still thin and wispy or prone to falling over a lot, or if you’re missing grass leaves with other rotary blades.

Moving into summer, the ‘No Sail’ (flat) blade is a good choice working well in very dry and dusty conditions and across areas that are not mowed as regularly, plus these blades make quick work of cutting down weeds. So why not plan ahead and stock up now with 10 percent off!

Genuine Toro rotary blades are designed to work harder for longer, meaning you don’t have to. And knowing you’ll protect the health of the plant and get a great finish, ordering now will be time well spent. As always, parts are delivered within 24 hours of ordering, where stock available. Contact Reesink at info@reesinkturfcare.co.uk or call their Spare Parts team on 01480 226854.
