SALTEX provides boost to the industry

SALTEX provides boost to the industry: SALTEX 2023 welcomed over 7,900 visitors to the bustling two-day exhibition. But it’s not just the quantity of visitors that was so impressive in the face of Storm Ciaran but the quality, say show organisers, the GMA.

Geoff Webb, CEO, Grounds Management Association says: “The show data demonstrates that SALTEX continues to deliver on an extremely high level of quality attendees: 25 percent of visitors hold senior managerial positions at their place of work and nearly 80 percent play a role in the purchasing decision-making.”

It’s certainly a view held by exhibitors too as Rob Edwards, marketing manager of tractor business unit at Kubota, confirms: “Without doubt, SALTEX ‘23 was a great success for Kubota. As the leading event in the UK for grounds management, it was the ideal way for us to showcase our range, as well as launch our innovative new products to the market.

“The format, where products, services, forums, and training are brought together in one place attracts the right customers and we were very busy throughout the show. The GMA does an excellent job of delivering SALTEX, and we are very pleased with the sales, press and marketing opportunities that the show delivered.”

This year, visitors attended from every corner of the UK, as well as a growing international attendance from across the globe. It’s clear that the global appeal of the show continues to grow, with a 20 percent increase in international exhibitors attending SALTEX this year.

The addition of new feature areas including The Clubhouse brought together people from across different sporting communities including women in turf and the cricketing world. The exciting new Community Sports Zone, also saw buoyant business which proved of great benefit to the grassroots and volunteer audience.

Geoff Webb adds, “SALTEX has delivered for the industry once again – it’s the perfect platform to showcase the UK turf sector globally and is a success story for the UK as a whole. For the show to maintain its position as the leading free grounds management show in Europe is testament to how highly regarded and valuable the show is perceived to be in the industry.”

SALTEX will be back at Birmingham NEC on 30-31 October 2024.

Monty Miracle debuts at SALTEX

Monty Miracle debuts at SALTEX: New kid on the block Monty Miracle made its debut at this year’s Saltex.

The exterior cleaning product is proven to eliminate black spot, algae, lichen and other organic stains on most external hard surfaces including stone, wood, plastic, concrete resin and coated metals. It is already being used within a number of grounds across the UK, having launched to the trade just this year following its patent approval.

Peter Beaumont, director, said: “We’ve had the pleasure of speaking to some of the best in the business at Saltex, which is great as we are looking to build on our successful entry into the groundskeeping trade over the last few months.”

Perfect for pathways, walls, seating, decking, fencing and steps, Monty Miracle completely neutralises following the cleaning process and is fully degradable so it can be hosed off safely – essential when a quick clean across a range of materials is needed.

The product was created by Martin Beaumont, who combined his experience of working with English Heritage and Shell to produce the perfect chemical cleaner: kinder to a wide range of surfaces, with better, longer lasting results. Easier and quicker to use, it needs no aggressive jetwash or scrubbing, taking just 10 minutes to break down organic stains before rinsing with water.

Peter concludes: “Aggressive jetwashing can erode sealant and remove the surface layer of stone, leaving it exposed and vulnerable to further damage and decay – far from ideal in high traffic, exposed areas like sports grounds which can have several steps and paths! Our alternative is proven to offer a simple, gentle, more effective solution that is so much quicker – and we have a range of five-star reviews and excellent online sales figures to prove it.

“We were delighted at Saltex, it was so busy both days with really interesting guests and delegates.”

Here’s a snapshot of what visitors can expect from some of the 400 brands in three halls, across two days, at one location.

For Kubota, SALTEX will provide the European launch platform for the next addition to its eco-friendly line-up, tightly under wraps until the show. And from EGO Power Plus, an exclusive viewing of its new-look PRO X range, set to launch in 2024, featuring what it classifies as a ‘trailblazing battery’ with charging technology specifically designed for professional and local authorities.

Reesink UK has chosen SALTEX to debut the industry’s first all-electric outfront rotary mower from Toro. The battery-powered Groundsmaster e3200 is joined by the Toro Workman MDX Lithium, also launching at the show.

Alastair Rowell, managing director of Reesink UK, says: “We’re delighted to introduce the latest electric technology to groundscare at SALTEX. Battery power is an integral part of the industry’s future and these are two crucial launches from Toro for the market.”

Kress will also be showcasing its new line of commercial-grade outdoor power equipment and revolutionary commercial 8-minute Cybersystem battery platform engineered to have the fastest re-charge of any commercial battery system. While Infinicut and its technical team will be on hand to demonstrate the newest additions to its innovative InfiniApp, including its new fleet management feature.

New machinery isn’t the only thing visitors can expect a preview of at SALTEX this year. Green Best will be unveiling new turf management products with its latest organo-mineral fertilisers developed for its Velvit range.

Concluding Geoff Webb, CEO of the GMA, organisers of SALTEX, says: “Getting up close and personal with the latest innovations on the market from our exhibitors is one of the many reasons visitors come to SALTEX year on year. Hearing from industry-leading experts about the latest developments in our Learning LIVE programme, receiving guidance on funding from the National Governing Bodies in attendance, or networking with some of the greatest in the business, are just a few of the others.”

New community sport zone at SALTEX

New community sport zone at SALTEX: New to SALTEX 2023 is the Community Sport Zone which presents a range of grass pitch maintenance machinery curated to be of specific interest to grassroots and community football, rugby union and rugby league clubs – all of which can be purchased through funding schemes.

Spokespeople from the brands will be present alongside the GMA’s Regional Pitch Advisors to guide visitors through the features and benefits of the machinery, answer questions and explain how this machinery is available to purchase thanks to the millions of pounds of funding that has been awarded via the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation to support grassroots football, as well as for Rugby League and Rugby Union in England.

In the zone, located alongside the GMA Hub, will be compact tractors from Campey Turf Care and Iseki, combination grooming tools such as Quadraplay, tractor mounted slitters from Greentek Solutions, tractor mounted fertiliser spreaders, cricket mowers, and line markers from Fleet Ltd.

The GMA’s Pitch Advisory Service is made up of grass pitch experts and understands volunteer and community sport grounds staff better than anyone else. The Pitch Advisory Service works throughout the year to support sport’s National Governing Bodies in improving the quality of grass pitches across the country and at all levels of sport, with particular focus on community sport.

The machinery on display in the Community Sport Zone has been curated from Pitch Advisory Service recommendations in their grass pitch reports facilitated through the Football Foundation’s PitchPower web-based app.

Jason Booth, chief operating office at the GMA, says: “We’re always looking at new ways to bring value and valuable experiences to visitors at SALTEX, hence the introduction of the Community Sport Zone at this year’s event.

“It will showcase key machinery that will directly benefit grounds people at a recreational level and is an opportunity not to be missed for grassroots clubs needing an introduction to the machinery and the funding opportunities available.

“We are extremely proud of the work our Pitch Advisory Service does year-round to support community sport across the country in collaboration with our partners at the National Governing Bodies – the machinery on show wouldn’t be possible for community clubs to acquire if it wasn’t often funded through the Football Foundation’s Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund.

“We appreciate the National Governing Bodies’ support and look forward to introducing a new audience to the world of benefits that SALTEX can offer grounds care professionals at all levels of sport.”

There will also be a guided tour with the GMA’s Regional Pitch Advisors taking visitors around the show floor to see the exhibitors displaying more specialised equipment.
