‘Precise’ Sherriff Amenity At SALTEX

‘Precise’ Sherriff Amenity At SALTEX: Visitors to stand E060 at SALTEX 2018 will get the opportunity to find out how they could significantly improve their turf through Sherriff Amenity’s range of unique products and some new dedicated apps.

Sherriff Amenity, the UK’s leading turf and amenity suppliers, have announced the launch of two new apps, which are set to increase efficiency and improve operations for sports turf managers.

‘Precise’ Sherriff Amenity At SALTEX

PrecisionPro is a dedicated app for sports turf to measure any area, guide you in calibrating your spreader for any granular product and also help you apply fertilisers as accurate as ever. The slogan for the app is Measure. Calibrate. Apply – and in just three simple steps accuracy and precision is guaranteed.

The misjudgement of green size often results in over application or under application of fertilisers and both will have a negative effect on performance, disease and budget.

PrecisionPro allows turf managers to have an accurate measured area by simply opening the app and walking the perimeter of the green. Calibrating spreaders has always been a difficult task but with the Calibrate feature in the PrecisionPro app, users are guided through each step of the process. Furthermore, its advanced GPS functionality informs you when to start and stop the calibration process.

Accurate application is taken to the next level and no more guesswork is required. The app features a function to ensure that every operator walks at the same speed – if someone is walking too fast or too slow then they are alerted by colour coded screens. As well as calculating your g/m2 and your walking speed, the Apply feature ultimately ensures that you are applying the correct amount of product to your turf.

Also being showcased on the stand is Sherriff Amenity’s all new ParryMeter football app – which is the world’s first dedicated measurement device to accurately measure the ball roll performance of football pitches using a real football. The ParryMeter football app records thousands of measurements per run ensuring absolute accuracy of readings. Additional data can also be entered into the app and all measurements are saved and easily shared however the user wishes to.

Sherriff Amenity will be joined on the stand by Carbon Gold – the world’s leading biochar company. Sherriff Amenity are the exclusive UK distributors of Carbon Gold’s Enriched Biochar Turf Improver and visitors will be able to discover more about Biochar, which is a highly porous, high carbon form of charcoal used to improve soil nutrition, growing conditions and turf health. It is made from untreated waste woody biomass that has been charred at a low temperature with a restricted supply of oxygen, a process called pyrolysis.

Carbon Gold’s Turf Improver enriches biochar with optimum levels of beneficial fungi, bacteria and trace minerals for optimum soil and sward health. Where prevention rather than cure is key, adding enriched biochar to soil provides the foundation on which to build resilient, attractive, playable turf, as recent sports turf trials have shown.

One lucky visitor to the stand will also walk away with a free Accupro spreader as well as a Lenova tablet, which comes pre-loaded with the PrecisonPro app.

ICL Focus On Ecoplug Max At SALTEX

ICL Focus On Ecoplug Max At SALTEX: Leading the way in offering the very best in product innovation, visitors to the ICL stand (K030) at SALTEX 2018 will get the opportunity to discover a wide range of solutions. At this year’s exhibition at the NEC, there will be a particular focus on Ecoplug Max, a patented product for tree stump control, which will no doubt draw the attention of attendees.

Ecoplug Max is a patented tree stump control application method which delivers glyphosate directly into the tree stump, killing its root system and preventing re-growth. Each plug contains 300mg of granular glyphosate which are simply placed into holes drilled into the stump using the Ecoplug drill bit. The plugs are then hammered in forcing out the sides of the plug, releasing the glyphosate into the phloem.

ICL Focus On Ecoplug Max At SALTEX

Ecoplug Max supports requirements of the Sustainable Use Directive (SUD) to minimise use of pesticides. With the glyphosate encapsulated inside the unit, it never gets in direct contact with anything else but the plant, minimizing the risk of the operator coming into contact with chemical or chemical spillage. It also eliminates the risk of damage to surrounding trees and vegetation. Quite simply, it stays where it belongs – inside the plant.

Visitors to the stand will also benefit from learning more about the popular Turf Rewards programme which offers all ICL customers the chance to earn points from purchases and convert them into a range of valuable agronomic or educational items. The programme is perfect for golf, sports and amenity turf managers with an extensive range of items on offer such as workplace tools, clothing and work wear, and educational vouchers. Not only does it benefit the turf manager but it is of advantage to the team, the turf, and the organisation they work for by maximising budgets with every purchase.

As well as showcasing their ever-evolving product ranges, the ICL technical team will be on hand at SALTEX to talk all things turf and landscape. The stand will also feature a coffee barista, so whether you are seeking advice on combating diseases, generally looking to improve your turf or landscape areas or have any other questions about your maintenance programmes then ensure that a visit to stand K030 is on your agenda.

Please contact ICL on +44 (0)1473 237100 or visit www.icl-sf.co.uk or www.icl-sf.ie.

New Germinal Package At SALTEX

New Germinal Package At SALTEX: Germinal will be returning to the NEC in Birmingham on 31 October–1 November for SALTEX, and will be showcasing its new, all-in-one sports pitch renovation package.

Containing three key elements – Germinal’s A20 Premier Ryesport seed mixture, an appropriate selection of fertiliser products and free sward management advice from one of Germinal’s FACTS (Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme) qualified technical experts – A20 Seed & Feed gives groundscare professionals everything they need to renovate sports pitches and to create a playable surface in time for the new season.

New Germinal Package At SALTEX

The seed element of the A20 Seed & Feed package provides a combination of four top-performing species of perennial ryegrasses: 10% Eugenius, 45% Calico, 20% Eurosport and 25% Eurocordus.  Together, these cultivars create a dense sward with excellent fineness of leaf, a good cleanness of cut, robust levels of disease resistance and fantastic post-winter recovery. The standard seed mixture can also be customised, allowing groundsmen to create a bespoke mixture to meet their specific needs.

For the fertiliser component of the A20 Seed & Feed package, a soil or sand based nutrient programme can be selected.  A third option, for park pitches and local community pitches, is also available.  All three nutrient programmes are F.A.C.T.S. approved and have been designed to enable the new sward to achieve the best possible results in terms of seedling establishment and sward development.  Each package contains a selection of phased release fertilisers and advanced soil conditioners which provide the necessary nutrients and trace elements required during the renovated pitch’s growing-in phase.

“The pitch renovation season is one of the busiest and most stressful periods in any groundsman’s calendar,” explains Richard Brown, Germinal Amenity Sales Manager.  “Waiting for the renovated pitch to be ready in time for the new playing season can cause even the most experienced and laid-back groundsman sleepless nights.  With that in mind, we have created an all-in-one seed, fertiliser and nutrient advice package to help ease the pressure.

“All too often we speak to groundsmen who simply don’t have the time or resources, or in some cases the correct technical knowledge, to develop their own over-seeding and fertiliser programme.  By following the simple advice laid out in our new A20 Seed & Feed package, these groundsmen can be confident that they are using the correct rate of the most suitable grass seeds and fertilisers at the optimum time, and that every penny invested will give their pitch the very best chance of going into the new season in prime condition.”

New Toro Machines At SALTEX

New Toro Machines At SALTEX: Toro distributor Reesink Turfcare is bringing the first super-duty utility vehicle, the Outcross 9060, and the brand’s new 12ft pull-behind rotary mower to SALTEX 2018. Both machines are designed to ensure groundsmen can do a lot more, with less, and will be on show on stand H010.

Jeff Anguige, national sales manager for Reesink, says: “The launch of the Outcross 9060 marks the first of its kind to be purpose-built for the management of fine turf. It combines the best elements of a tractor with a utility vehicle and delivers a machine that can do the work of multiple machines in one compact package.”

New Toro Machines At SALTEX

Powered by a 59.8-horsepower Yanmar liquid-cooled diesel engine, the Outcross can tow up to 16,000lbs and has an optional cargo bed that can hold 4,500lbs of materials. It simplifies operation, optimises power and brings the option of dozens of attachments to perform hundreds of tasks.

Following hot on the Outcross’s heels for making the groundsman’s life easier is the Groundsmaster 1200 pull-behind rotary mower. What’s interesting about this new machine is that it is, says Toro, a pull-behind more than worthy of being called a Groundsmaster such are its capabilities.

Productivity is high with a 12ft wide cutting width thanks to three decks which flow with the contours of the terrain for example and dual full width rollers which leave a well-groomed after-cut appearance. The height of cut can be adjusted from 0.5 to four inches, and its wing decks folded up to create a narrow 86-inch transportation width making it easy to get from site to site. Plus, the transport wheels feature a torsion axle and integrated torsion spring which means it can do its job smoothly and comfortably for the operator.

Jeff says of these new launches: “As with the entire grounds range, Toro focusses on productivity, versatility, flexibility and durability, and the Outcross and Groundsmaster are the perfect embodiment of all these things. Toro understands its market and that today’s groundsmen need to do more with less. Plus, they complement each other so well.”

In addition, there will be a full line-up from Reesink and all its brands. From the grounds machinery range will be the LT-F3000 triple flail mower and its innovative cylinder attachment option, and the large volume direct collect ProLine H800, which launched at last year’s show.

Representing Toro’s irrigation range will be the Lynx Central Control system and Infinity 55 sprinklers with Smart Access, TS90 and T7 sprinklers with TurfCup, a feature for hidden infield irrigation and seamless-looking turf, and the Flex 55 sprinklers.

For those managing ponds and lakes, needing to optimise oxygen levels to keep water healthy, there will be Otterbine’s best-selling Fractional five-in-one aerator which delivers the highest performance rate of any fractional aerator on the market. It will be joined on stand by the Concept 3, the aerating fountain that perfectly illustrates how industrial aerators can give the best of both worlds offering function and beauty.

Reesink will again have two stands with H080 being entirely dedicated to TYM’s range of compact tractors and accessories.

Reesink’s marketing manager Holly Jones, says: “There’s lots to look forward to for this year’s show. To have not one but two Toro launches is great for the sports and amenities market and I predict there will be a lot of interest on the stand as a result. We welcome everyone to come and see the line-up, discuss their needs and share experiences and advice with our specialist groundscare machinery team.”

SCH Sponsor SALTEX Award

SCH Sponsor SALTEX Award: SCH (Supplies) Ltd have proudly attended and exhibited at SALTEX for 33 years, and during this time the event has helped our company thrive. We feel that it’s time to give back to one of the main contributors of our success, and are doing so by sponsoring the Best Managed Artificial Surface award.

SCH has had its best year so far, and we’ve ramped up production to keep up with demand. Being a small company, every member of staff is important to keep production going at full pace. To fulfil our customer obligations at this exceptionally busy time, we’ve decide to keep our key members of staff on site to ensure products continue to reach customers without delay. It is due to this that we will not be keeping stand space at SALTEX this year. It’s been a difficult decision to make after 33 years, but we believe it to be the correct one.

SCH Sponsor SALTEX Award

SALTEX is the only show that SCH has a presence at, and it is very important to us because we do not employ any outside sales representation. The show is our main vehicle for speaking to people face to face and showcasing our products. It provides a focal point for the company and prompts us to consider the direction that the industry is taking, which in turn informs the decisions we make regarding the development of new machinery.

We’re delighted with the opportunity to sponsor the Best Managed Artificial Surface award, which allows us to continue our uninterrupted 33 years at SALTEX. It gives us all – especially managing director Andrew Rodwell – the chance to catch up with old friends and new, and we value the fact that we will be getting referrals all through the year as a direct result of SALTEX.

As manufacturers of both real and artificial pitch care machinery, the choice of award was an easy one to make, and we are delighted to sponsor this prestigious award. Despite not keeping stand space this year, we are delighted to give back to the event and to be involved.
