With a high power output of 2.0 kW, equivalent to the petrol FS 411 C-EM, the new STIHL FSA 400 is the most powerful battery powered clearing saw available in the market.

Thanks to its impressive performance, the FSA 400 is the first STIHL AP System tool to be compatible with shredder and circular saw blades, allowing professionals to clear tough areas of dense and woody growth.

Like all AP System tools, the FSA 400 has been built to withstand tough working conditions. The sturdy battery housing with stainless steel air filter ensures optimum battery and motor protection, while the 28mm aluminium drive shaft and gearbox are identical to those found on the professional petrol range.

Designed for professional landscapers, the HSA 140 R and HSA 140 T are the most powerful battery powered hedge trimmers in the STIHL AP System.

The HSA 140 also offers high levels of operator comfort. The new hedge trimmer weighs just 4.3-4.6 kg (without battery) and is comfortable to hold, balanced in operation, and features a rotating rear handle that locks into three positions across a 180-degree range.

The HSA 140 is quiet in operation, and thanks to the highly effective anti vibration system, is suitable for long periods of use too.

Designed for professional landscapers, the HSA 150 R and HSA 150 T are the first single-sided hedge trimmers in the Stihl AP System, comparable in performance to the popular petrol HS 87.

Available in lengths of 75cm or 100cm, the HSA 150 comes equipped with a catcher plate as standard, increasing the speed at which the top of hedges can be cut.

Stihl has expanded its range of robotic lawn mowers with the introduction of the professional iMOW 7 PRO. Thanks to the new Teams Function, up to three iMOW 7 PRO machines can work in one mowing area to rapidly maintain lawns and sports pitches up to 8,000m2 in size, with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.

The iMOW 7 PRO offers professionals and businesses a cost effective and reliable way of ensuring a high-quality finish to their grounds, while allowing operatives more time to focus on other value adding tasks.

The Teams Function, combined with the fast drive speed and short mowing times, ensures that the iMOW 7 PRO cuts the grass quickly with minimal disruption. The mowing timetable can be customised easily in the My iMOW App, allowing mowing periods to work seamlessly alongside the activities taking place on the sports pitch.

Stihl is also launching three new powerful and rugged professional battery-powered lawnmowers, perfectly suited to demanding lawn care in noise-sensitive areas. An extension to the AP System, the new lawnmowers are equivalent in performance to the well-respected 7 series petrol models.

With a 48cm cutting width, the RMA 750 V is the smallest of the three new models. The RMA 756 V has a larger 54cm cutting width for faster working, while the RMA 7 RV is a dedicated mulching mower with no collection bag and a cutting width of 51cm.

Stihl’s Master Technician Course, has been designed to provide expert level servicing and diagnostics across the full Stihl product range.

Following extensive development and a successful pilot earlier this year, the Master Technician Course is now available to Approved dealers who have completed the full training pathway, comprising Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced Servicing courses.

The final stage of the programme includes an online entry exam and pre-requisite modules, followed by an intensive three-day face-to face training experience at Stihl’s headquarters, Contra House.

The hands-on course offers participants an in-depth technical deep dive, featuring:

• Eight specialist assessments
• Extensive product usage training
• A guided Contra House tour
• A structured recertification process, including an annual online exam. Since launching the Master

Technician learning pathway in 2023, nearly 100 face-to-face training courses have taken place across all four levels, reinforcing the company’s commitment to dealer training and technical excellence.

The first Master Technician Course officially launched online in February, with nine further face-to-face sessions planned throughout 2025.

Combined with a tour of the HQ which was officially opened last spring, the day was extremely informative and, as usual, Stihl were perfect hosts.

The STIHL GTA 40 battery-powered pruner

The STIHL GTA 40 battery-powered pruner: Designed for tree care, the GTA 40 is the first professional pruner available in the STIHL AS System of battery-powered tools. Combining low weight and compact design with high cutting performance, the GTA 40 excels at pruning on the ground as well as maintenance and corrective pruning in trees by trained climbing arborists.

Thanks to the low weight, excellent balance and impressive cutting speed, the GTA 40 is a viable alternative to using top handled chainsaws for tree canopy maintenance. In areas of overgrown and dense foliage, the compact and slim design of the GTA 40 is a particular advantage.

Two AS System batteries provide enough charge for up to 190 cuts when cutting spruce with a diameter of 5×5 cm. Like all STIHL professional battery-powered tools, the batteries and the pruner are IPX4 certified, resulting in reliable use in rain and wet conditions.

Equipped with a 6” STIHL Light 01 guide bar with low-friction sprocket nose and a narrow STIHL 1/4″ Picco saw chain, the GTA 40 ensures fast cutting performance and a smooth cutting result. The partially transparent chain oil tank ensures the operator is always aware of when the tank needs to be refilled.

Like many battery-powered tools, the GTA 40 is so quiet that no hearing protection is required, and to ensure the tool fits comfortably in your hand, the grip points are coated with a durable non-slip soft material. Features such as the lateral chain tensioner and charge level indicator also help to ensure effortless operation.

Suspension eyelets on both sides allow a lanyard to be attached. Alternatively, a holster is available as part of STIHL’s X-Flex Harness System, for even greater ease of use. A heavy-duty storage and transport case is included with all GTA 40 sets, with ample room for the AL 5-2 multi-charger and up to 6 AS 2 batteries.

The GTA 40 pruner can be integrated into the cloud-based STIHL Connected system solution via a Smart Connector attached to the motor housing. This digital fleet management system offers professional users a detailed overview of the operating time of the tool, as well as upcoming maintenance tasks and maintenance history records.

STIHL to showcase new machines at SALTEX

STIHL to showcase new machines at SALTEX: STIHL will present a range of new products at this year’s SALTEX, Europe’s premier grounds management show, between 30th – 31st October 2024.

Taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, they will be showcasing brand new battery-powered tools in the AP System range, including the BGA 250, STIHL’s most powerful handheld leaf blower, the KMA 200 R, STIHL’s most powerful KombiMotor, the TSA 300, STIHL’s first battery-powered 12” cut-off machine and the SHA 140, STIHL’s first battery-powered vacuum shredder designed for professionals.

The BGA 250 is the latest battery-powered leaf blower from STIHL. Weighing only 2.7kg, this leaf blower is lighter than the BGA 86 and boasts a significantly higher blowing force of 26 Newtons. This makes it the most powerful handheld leaf blower from STIHL, with the same blowing force on the maximum setting as the BR 430 petrol backpack blower. Due to the location of the battery on the BGA 250, it has great balance and the variable speed trigger makes it perfect for leaf clearing jobs that require high power. Thanks to constant power output technology, the blowing performance remains consistent throughout use and does not decrease as the battery discharges. Whether you use it at 100% charge or 20%, you’ll get full power until the battery has completely run out of energy.

Also on show at SALTEX is the KMA 200 R, the latest KombiMotor offering from STIHL which has a higher power output than the KM 131 petrol KombiEngine. This new addition to the AP System offers professional landscapers unrivalled performance and versatility. What’s more, the KMA 200 R can be used with a wide-range of KombiTools for taking on landscaping tasks, including brushcutter, pole pruner, sweeper brush, leaf blower, lawn edging and hedge trimmer attachments.

After many years of development, STIHL is excited to present its latest professional tool for hardscaping, construction and pipework, the TSA 300 12” cut-off machine. This model has been developed with precision in mind and features a variable speed control for achieving a significantly narrower cutting kerf in comparison to its petrol equivalent, the TS 410. This results in greater efficiency and a more accurate cut. The TSA 300 rivals the TS 410 for power and has other benefits such as being lighter, more compact and having less vibrations.

Finally, STIHL will be presenting the SHA 140, its first battery-powered vacuum shredder in the AP System. Designed for professionals, this vacuum shredder is the most powerful in its lineup and has a robust build, as well as 15% more suction power than the petrol SH 86, making it ideal for the leaf clearing season ahead.

Visitors to the STIHL stand will get the chance to see these new tools up close, observe live demonstrations, and speak with STIHL experts for advice and guidance on all STIHL machines.

British team announced for STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship

British team announced for STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship: The pinnacle of logger sports action, the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship, takes place in Toulouse, France on 8th and 9th November this year, and the athletes who will represent Great Britain in the Team event have now been selected.

After going head-to-head against each other as rivals in the British Championship earlier this year, the top British athletes will now have to work together if they want to repeat their success on the world stage.

British team announced for STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship

In the Team World Championship, each team consists of four athletes who take on four TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines in a relay; the Stock Saw, the Underhand Chop, the Single Buck and finally the Standing Block Chop. The teams compete in knock-out rounds against each other, with the fastest team proceeding to the next round, so the athletes with the quickest times in their national championships stand the best chance of being selected to represent their country.

British Pro champion Glen Penlington from Knighton, Wales took his third British title in a row in June at the Royal Three Counties Show, but it was his impressive times in the Underhand Chop, Single Buck and Standing Block Chop that guaranteed him a place in the team. Penlington was faster than his fellow competitors in all three disciplines, even delivering a new Personal Best time in the Single Buck, on his way to the top of the podium.

With four other places on the team to be filled, including a reserve, the decisions in the rest of the selection process needed more consideration. But through analysis of each of the discipline times from the British Championship, the rest of the team was selected.

Along with Penlington, Rob Chatley from Hanley Broadheath in Worcestershire, Graham Turner from Penicuik, Scotland, Tom Redmond from Bere Regis, Dorset and George Spencer from Hereford all made the cut, meaning that the British team for the 2024 World Championship is the same as the team that travelled to Stuttgart for the 2023 World Championship.

Vicky Tween, STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Team Manager, was excited about the prospect of team reuniting again. “Individually, they are all really strong athletes, so it’s always great to see what they can do when they come together. Last year didn’t go as planned for the team, but it was a useful learning experience, and I’m certain they will improve this year,” she said.

They will once again be joined by the British Rookie Champion, Jack Morris, also from Knighton, in Wales. Whilst Rookie athletes don’t normally compete as part of the team, Morris delivered some lightning-fast times at the Rookie Championship and will be nipping at the heels of the Pro athletes when he joins them for the three Team training camps that take place in the lead-up to Toulouse.

These training camps are a great opportunity for the team to work out who will take which leg of the relay at the World Championship, as well as an opportunity to practice the changeovers between the disciplines. In a sport that can come down to the tiniest margins, the additional training is critical to the performance, and the team will be looking to build on their 14th place finish from 2023.

If you want to see how Team GB fare against the best athletes from across the globe, you can watch the World Championship in full, live on the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® YouTube channel on Friday 8th November.
