PSD also offer a comprehensive range of debris clearance machinery including the lightweight and agile AS30 E battery powered weedbrush from AS Motor, a timesaver when it comes removing weeds on uneven surfaces such as cobblestones, along walls and kerb stones and a quiet rechargeable battery.

Representatives from key manufacturers were in attendance, including Torsten Schick – Head of

International Sales at AS Motor, Gracienne Geenens, Sales Director at Eliet and Stéphane Courtois,

Sales & Marketing Director at TS Industries, who were able to give visitors a detailed overview of the products being showcased.

Chris Gibson (Managing Director) of PSD Groundscare said:

“We are absolutely delighted with this year’s Saltex. The stand was busy at all times and we took more enquiries than ever before, with particular interest in our innovative new products that are set to revolutionise groundscare and maintenance.

“Saltex was the perfect place for the unveiling of the exciting new Prof 6 Green Waste Shredder from Eliet, as it is arguably the industry’s show stopper event and the perfect platform to show the innovations that PSD Groundscare have to offer”.

Successful SALTEX for Price Turfcare

Successful SALTEX for Price Turfcare: “SALTEX just gets better and better for us”, says Rupert Price, Managing Director of Ventrac’s UK distributor Price Turfcare.

“For the past two years we’ve been coming to the event with the intention of raising the profile of the Ventrac brand, but this year there was a significant change. Visitors now know of us through our marketing initiatives including the social media platforms of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, together with the editorial coverage we have received in the trade media.

“We’re still working exceptionally hard demonstrating the versatility of the equipment and the recent Turf Maintenance Live (TML) event, just a week before SALTEX, was another opportunity to get the product in front of prospects.

“Many of the visitors to our stand were saying that they had seen us on social media and in the trade publications. Now they are wanting to see the equipment that is creating the buzz. At the close of the show, when we analysed the number of demonstration requests we had received, I was quite dumbfounded. With these added to those from TML, we are going to be extremely busy between now and the spring of 2020.

“All in all, a great show for us.”

Fusion Media’s Successful SALTEX

Fusion Media’s Successful SALTEX: Fusion Media is celebrating a hugely successful SALTEX 2019 after representing a record number of exhibitors at the show as well as carrying out a year-long strategic marketing campaign on behalf of the event itself which resulted in a record-breaking number of visitors.

Fusion Media is an award-winning, full-service marketing and corporate communications agency that works across all media channels. It has an extensive client base within the groundscare industry and expert knowledge in helping clients stand out from the crowd.

Fusion Media's Successful SALTEX

SALTEX 2019 saw Fusion Media representing 11 exhibitors on the show floor in which the company embarked on a variety of activities including bespoke exhibition design & stand build, creation of show literature and promoting their show presence through a mix of print and digital media as well as various social media campaigns.

Since SALTEX moved to the NEC, Birmingham in 2015, Fusion Media has handled the public relations for the show and last year the agency was awarded the marketing contract.

The result was a year-long strategic marketing campaign to help persuade visitors to commit to the show; while also attracting new or lapsed visitors. SALTEX 2019 saw a record-breaking number of visitors attend the show since its move to the NEC, Birmingham, which in turn has also led to a record-breaking rebook rate for exhibitors committing to the 2020 show.

Commenting on the successful show, Fusion Media Managing Director, Christopher Bassett, said: “I’m tremendously proud of the whole Fusion team who have really pulled out all of the stops in ensuring that SALTEX 2019 attracted a record-breaking number of visitors.

“It is an honour to be part of the industry’s showcase exhibition and it has once again been a pleasure working alongside the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) and Events for You – the SALTEX sales team. The show is growing year on year and credit must go to the IOG for putting on a show that the industry can be proud of.

“I would also like to thank all of our clients, all of whom reported this year’s event as the busiest and most prosperous show yet. It was a privilege to represent new and existing clients at SALTEX and we are already looking forward to next year’s event.”

Machinery Imports Celebrate Successful SALTEX

Machinery Imports Celebrate Successful SALTEX: The team from T H WHITE Machinery Imports were delighted to support the IOG and attend the 2018 SALTEX event again last week, held at the Birmingham NEC on 31st October and 1st November.

The two-day exhibition was attended by over 300 exhibitors and several thousand visitors, with the Machinery Imports stand, representing Ferris, Wright, Spider and Jensen brands dominating the space as the second-largest exhibitor stand in the whole venue.

Machinery Imports Celebrate Successful SALTEX

With an open space stand of 175m2 visitors to the stand were able to see a range of machinery from the Ferris, Wright, Spider and Jensen brands all in one place, with a large team on hand to answer any questions and talk to visitors about the machinery on display in detail.

Taking centre-stage on the stand was a large suspension demonstration unit from Ferris. Featuring a Ferris IS®2100Z on top, the suspension unit was able to show visitors exactly how the patented Ferris IS® suspension technology works on uneven terrain, with staff able to explain in more detail the benefits of the suspension on comfort, productivity, safety and machine longevity. As the only commercial zero-turn mowers in the world with full suspension, Ferris models including the new, compact 400S, launched in 2018, and the EFI Petrol engine powered IS®3200Z, were proudly on display alongside popular stand-on and pedestrian Ferris machines.

Launching at SALTEX was the new Ferris ISX®800Z, a 27hp petrol engine zero-turn mower with 52” rear-discharge deck, which garnered much interest throughout the show. The real innovations in the ISX®800Z were clear for all to see, introducing a new-to-the-industry double wishbone suspension system for an even smoother ride, as well as double belt drive system under the deck for extreme reliability and extended belt life.

Also launched at the event was the new prototype X Line from Spider, their smallest commercial mower to date at just 1m3 with an integrated winch enabling mowing on slopes and dangerous terrain up to 55°. Displayed on an angled stand, visitors were able to see the X Line in detail and up close, before it officially enters the market in the UK from Spring 2019 onwards. Other models on display included the ever-popular Spider ILD01 and low-profile 2SGS, designed for mowing under and around solar panels.

From Jensen, the original woodchipper brand established in Germany in 1884, visitors were presented with a selection of 3 popular chippers from the range including the A530 petrol towed machine, which at just 750kg can be towed with a standard, full UK driving licence. The A530L Diesel model was also highly popular at the show, alongside the exciting A530XL tracked chipper, which with a 150mm capacity and powerful 37hp diesel engine can make light work of timber and brash, clearing up to 15m3 per hour. The Jensen tracked system which can come either as fixed, adjustable or independently adjustable ‘Spider’ tracks, offers unrivalled stability and access for those harder-to-reach spaces such as slopes, embankments, uneven or unstable terrain.

Finally, visitors were welcomed to by representatives from the Wright team, who flew over from the USA specially, to see a range of Wright stander mowers including the Sport I and Stander I. Wright produced the world’s first stander mowers in 1997 and are the leading manufacturer of high quality, stand-on mowers in the world. Visitors were interested to stand and sit on the Wright mowers, testing the comfort and user-friendliness, as well as the easy-to-use spring-loaded height of cut adjuster which surprised guests with its effortless transition ability.

Judith Ross, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager at Wright, commented: “Working with the Machinery Imports sales team at SALTEX 2018 was a productive and informative experience. Wright values our partnership with Machinery Imports as a supplier of premium commercial equipment in the UK. SALTEX provides an important venue for industry-wide sharing of best practices and services in the green industry.”

The team were pleased to not only meet new and existing customers and dealers but also showcase the brands on film with the teams from SALTEX TV and Turf Matters who both visited the stand during the event. Not only that, popular YouTuber John Ryan who set up the Lawncare Legends social groups for groundcare professionals took time to visit the stand and film some of the machinery for his upcoming projects.

Machinery Imports Divisional Director, Tim Lane, was really pleased with the success of the show for the business, commenting:

“We were delighted to attend SALTEX again this year supporting the IOG and hosting a large stand space encompassing all four of our premium brands. The Machinery Imports team worked tirelessly throughout the event to highlight the exceptional range of machinery we have available to meet the customers’ every need, as well as showcasing our new innovations to the market through product launches from Spider and Ferris.

We are looking forward to speaking with all the stand visitors again over the coming weeks and months at demonstrations and meetings to discuss working together further in 2019.”

MJ Abbott’s Successful Year

MJ Abbott’s Successful Year: As one of the UK’s leading specialist contractors to the sports turf industry MJ Abbott Limited, established in 1965, has developed its expertise in a wide range of products and services and now operates throughout the UK and Europe.

Over the years the service portfolio has grown to incorporate sports facility construction and renovation, golf course construction, reconstruction and remodelling, irrigation, water management, land drainage, water and wastewater engineering, landscaping, civil engineering, and a number of other specialist services.

MJ Abbott's Successful Year

Throughout the last 12-months, the company has completed projects from hybrid pitch construction at Premier League football clubs through to sports pitch construction at schools and colleges. The varied nature of these projects has highlighted MJ Abbott’s ability to provide the best solution possible to meet customer requirements and budgets when working on construction, drainage irrigation or landscaping.

This has led to a number of diverse projects being successfully finished including the construction, installation of drainage and cultivation of four pitches ready for seeding at Zeals Football Club and Alderbury Football Club. Dauntseys School, Wiltshire, also had a football pitch constructed, complete with primary drainage and sand topdressing into re-used topsoil as well as a cricket square renovation.

Both Foxhills Golf Club and Torquay Golf Club had short game areas constructed, consisting of earthworks, green and bunker construction, drainage, irrigation, cultivating and seeding. A specialist irrigation project took place at Abridge Golf Club with a Perott irrigation system being installed. This involved new mainlines pipework and the installation of a controller into the pump station for the irrigation to greens, approaches, tees and partial fairways.

These projects have been joined by hybrid pitch constructions using two different systems. Brighton and Hove Albion FC had their fibrelastic pitch removed at the AMEX Stadium and had the levels graded before a new sand and rootzone layer was added and a SISGRASS hybrid system installed.

The Premier League club also installed SISGRASS on two and a half pitches at their training ground, with the construction including the addition of new undersoil heating on the goalkeeping area and work on pitch surrounds.

The increasingly popular hybrid system was also installed at Bearwood Park, the new training base of Championship team, Reading FC, along with a fibre sand pitch, fibre sand goalkeeping area and six topsoil based pitches. This work generally included cut and fill earthwork and trimming, gravel drainage layers, lower sand and upper rootzone levels plus the addition of full drainage and irrigation systems and the installation of camera ducting to each pitch.

Rugby has also been an important sport for MJ Abbott this year with a pitch construction project to facilitate a HERO hybrid mat system at Gloucester Rugby’s Kingsholm Stadium, which was laid by County Turf. This involved removing vegetation, cutting and filling existing pitch levels, installing new primary and secondary drainage and adding a new rootzone layer.

MJ Abbott's Successful Year

A renovation project at Paris Saint-Germain’s training ground had the MJ Abbott team making their now regular trip to the French capital whilst projects at Newcastle United FC and Chelsea FC continued MJ Abbott’s continued relationship with both clubs.

All of these projects are only a selection of examples that MJ Abbott completed in 2018. With many more on schedule for the coming year.
