Offering the highest rear lift capacity in its class, the Kubota L2-622 combines reliable technology and productivity with a high degree of operator comfort. At its heart is an efficient 62hp stage-V diesel engine, integrated power steering and HST hydrostatic transmission with three-stage group shift for smooth operation and complete control. Further flexibility is offered by a range of Kubota front loaders, extending its application to course renovation and end of season construction works.

Continuing the theme of versatility will be the RTV 520 from Kubota’s utility vehicle range. The Kubota RTV 520 delivers quiet, dependable power from the 18hp liquid-cooled 2-cylinder engine for work on all terrain and the timely delivery of people and materials to meet the tightest of maintenance schedules. Its heavy-duty metal load platform, solid underbody protection and high front axle ground clearance of 225mm are proof positive that compact doesn’t have to mean compromise when it comes to rugged productivity.

Completing the line-up will be a selection of ride-on mowers. Joining the highly productive FC3-261 out-front centre-collect mower will be the F-391 with 60” rear discharge deck. Renowned for its efficiency, Kubota’s F-Series of front mower delivers rugged, diesel-powered reliability for the most demanding of mowing tasks. Comfortable ergonomics are complemented by optimal cut and clipping dispersal, and equally impressive mulching quality. Available with either a 60 or 72” mower deck, and choice of side or rear discharge, the F-391 presents a versatile alternative for the cutting of long, dense roughs, practice areas and car park surrounds.

As always, the Kubota team will be on hand across the three days, happy to answer visitors’ questions and looking forward to catching up with customers old and new.

Long regarded as the industry-leader in leaf and debris collectors, the Trilo range spans models from 3-30m3 to suit a range of environments from roadside verges to sports turf, golf courses to green spaces. Powerful suction combined with clever, modular construction makes for effortless removal of leaves, pine needles, clippings and other debris, making light work of the most time-consuming tasks of the autumn and winter months. The unique configuration of the Trilo vacuums provides the option of a cab-controlled hose or handheld wanderhose, bringing further efficiencies to the clearance of ditches, gulleys and other hard to reach spaces.

When leaf fall season is complete, and other vacuum sweepers are resigned to the sidelines, the Trilo Multipurpose works on. A range of attachments are available for effective scarification or convenient cut and collect, all of which can be swapped in and out in under an hour, with minimal tools, for less time in the workshop and more time in the field.

The Trilo scarifier shaft is available with a range of knife options, to suit the scarification of large areas such as fairways or public parks, with the extracted material collected into the high-capacity hopper in the same pass. Alternatively, a flail shaft can be fitted for the efficient cut and collection of golf roughs, highway verges or the annual maintenance of wildflower meadows.

Whether it’s leaves, organic matter or clippings, all waste can be easily emptied thanks to the Trilo hydraulic high-tip function, offering the controlled disposal into compost or waste containers.

More information on the Trilo range, together with other offerings from Trilo such as the Progressive portfolio of trailed and mounted rotary mowers, can be found by speaking to the technical team on stand K058 across the two days.

Versatile square pattern nozzles

Versatile square pattern nozzles: The Rain Bird range of SQ Series Square Pattern Nozzles has been extended with the addition of the ¾ Square Pattern version.

These highly efficient and precise low-volume spray nozzles are ideal for irrigating difficult corners and small areas such as narrow planting beds, shrub islands within residential, commercial or public landscapes and around pedestrian walkways. The new ¾ Square Pattern is particularly suitable for surface watering the perimeter of trees and shrubs whilst avoiding the trunk.

The 1.4–3.5 bar SQ Series is pressure compensated and the square spray pattern offers efficient and virtually mist free controlled irrigation. This means optimum coverage for non-turf watering applications and reduced risk of overspray and potential damage to adjacent areas. The patented nozzle design gives the irrigation system designer or installer the option of 0.8 or 1.2 metre throws from one SQ nozzle and flow rates from 22.7 to 90.8 l/hour.

From an installation design and layout viewpoint, the edge-to-edge pattern capability of the SQ Series ensures full coverage of an area and reduces the need for overlap. The number of nozzles required is therefore reduced, not only simplifying designs and decreasing material costs, but also significantly reducing installation times.

In additon to the new ¾ Square Pattern nozzle, the SQ Series is available for quarter, half and full irrigating patterns. These can be used individually or combined in multiple ways to provide the exact coverage and flow rates required for an installation, whilst accommodating any future expansion of the area to be irrigated. The nozzles can be fitted directly on to a variety of spray heads or risers with adapters and accessories available too.

With fewer nozzles needed and the high levels of efficiency and control that they provide, the versatile SQ Series can typically provide up to 65% water savings when compared with using alternative nozzle designs. Versatile Ventrac at The Mere

Versatile Ventrac at The Mere: The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford, Cheshire, has joined an ever-burgeoning list of sports and leisure organisations that have purchased a Ventrac all-terrain compact tractor and selection of attachments. Supplied by local dealer, Cheshire Turf Machinery, the attachments include a Contour deck, a Stump grinder and Turbine blower.

The 18-hole, 6,882 -yard, par-71 course at The Mere was designed by James Braid, and created out of 150 acres of Cheshire parkland in 1934. Today, the Championship course holds the reputation as one of the best maintained and highest quality golf courses in the North of England.

John Quinn, a native of Donegal in Ireland, has been the Course Manager for the past 4 years, after joining the prestigious resort’s greenkeeping team seven years ago. He leads a team of 10 comprising of 8 greenkeepers and two full-time gardeners.

Commenting on the Ventrac he said,

“We are a destination resort and we pride ourselves with the visual appearance of the property and the immaculate presentation of the golf course. This Ventrac is probably the best innovation in course maintenance in the past 20 years. It will go almost anywhere and its versatility is unparalleled. It’s great in wet areas and ticks all the boxes from a health and safety point of view.

“What other machine allows you to switch out a mowing deck and attach a stump grinder, then switch again to blowing leaves? It’s an adaptable piece of equipment with an ingenious coupling system that lets you change implements in just about a minute. The eight wheels gives it a low centre of gravity, which makes it very safe on slopes, especially around tee banks and bunker surrounds.

“It’s up there with the best machines I used. It’s just a case of getting to know its capability and getting the confidence to go where no other ride-on can go. It helps us to maintain difficult areas on a regular basis and has certainly enhanced the presentation of the course.”

John Quinn began his career at his local course in Portnoo, Donegal, with an initial six-week placement that lasted four years. To further his career, he spent two years in full-time education at Elmwood college achieving an HNC and HND in golf course management as well as work placements in Sweden. He then joined Linden Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa in Northumberland and three years later migrated south to take up the position of deputy head greenkeeper at Caversham Heath near Reading. Five years on, he then moved to Davenport Golf Club in Cheshire, before taking up his latest position in 2015.
