Price Turfcare welcomes return to SALTEX

Price Turfcare welcomes return to SALTEX: Price Turfcare, the UK and Ireland distributor of the Ventrac multi-implement, all-terrain compact tractor and Ryan turf maintenance equipment, is returning to SALTEX with a larger stand and more products on display.

Founded by Ransomes Jacobsen’s former sales director, Rupert Price, in January 2017, the company has come a long way in less than five years.

“We’ve had a fantastic journey in a short space of time”, he said. “It’s been tough, but we survived the pandemic and are back on the road with demonstrations, roadshows and exhibitions. Getting our products in front of people has proved to be an excellent sales strategy for the business. We have increased sales, year-on-year, with most Ventracs being sold with multiple attachments.

“We exhibited at The Game Fair in July and we generated significant enquiries. Private estates are a key business area for us and we have made significant sales involving multiple implement purchases. Our golf portfolio remains strong as does the landscape contracting sector.

With seven different mowing decks, including the recently introduced flails, blowers, stump grinders, blades, grapples, brushes and much more, it’s no wonder that customers really appreciate the versatility of Ventrac.”

To understand why respected businesses have been impressed by the Ventrac product and to see the latest equipment from Ryan come along and visit stand B124.

POLARIS RANGER SP 570

RANGER 570 has been the top choice for farmers, landowners and outdoor enthusiasts for more than a decade, and now, with rider-inspired features to deliver enhanced capability, comfort and drivability, the new mid-size RANGER SP 570 works harder and rides smoother than ever before.

“Our customers lead a busy lifestyle and they don’t want to compromise on the two things they care most about: doing good quality work and enjoying time with the family,” said Chris Judson, Vice President of RANGER, GENERAL and ATV, Polaris.  “The RANGER SP 570 was designed so they don’t have to make these trade-offs; it’s great for work, fun to ride and the perfect fit.”

Redesigned from the ground up, the RANGER SP 570 features a bold, updated style along with a host of rider-inspired improvements. The redesigned cargo box is nearly 30 percent larger, delivering class-leading volume with a single-handle tailgate for quick and easy access for loading and unloading cargo. Integrated tie-downs, slots for cargo dividers, and Lock & Ride attachment points allow users to easily secure cargo and maximize utility.

Punching well above its weight, the proven Prostar 570cc double-overhead-cam engine packs class-leading power along with a new CVT system, two-times longer belt life and an upsized and re-tuned clutch system for improved low-speed drivability. The all-new suspension provides 25.4 cm of ground clearance, a tighter turning radius and a compact width of 144.5 cm, giving the 570 a best-in-class combination of manoeuvrability and capability.

With nearly 75 litres of onboard storage, including a mobile phone holder, enclosed storage bins, a map or tablet pocket, and a massive sealed glove box, riders can take everything they need for the ride. The cab is built around the user: The dash has been moved back to provide more knee space and there is a new quieter exhaust system so riders can enjoy a conversation while the vehicle is running.

Polaris is also offering 40 all-new accessories for the RANGER SP 570, along with four new accessory collections: Landowner, Farm, Hunt and Trail. Riders now have more options than ever for customization based on how they use their vehicle. With the launch of the RANGER SP 570, comes the introduction of Polaris Pro Shield cab components to the lineup. The tightest-sealing cab system from Polaris reduces noise, water and dust from the cab for maximum rider comfort. Additionally, riders can enjoy their favourite songs wirelessly through the JBL® Trail 4.0 audio system.

The RANGER SP 570 comes in three colour options for Europe, Middle East and Africa, including Sage Green, Hunter Edition in Polaris Pursuit Camo, and Nordic Pro Edition in Black Pearl with an in-cab heater and winch.

POLARIS RANGER DIESEL DELUXE

Developed and launched specifically for markets in Europe, Middle East and Australia in 2019, the RANGER Diesel introduced refined performance with the all-new diesel engine, enhanced ergonomics, an upgraded chassis and class-leading capabilities.

New for 2022, Polaris introduces the RANGER Diesel Deluxe, combining the same durability, dependability and capability, with premium upgrades.

Jenika Bishop, RANGER Product Manager at Polaris, said: “The new Diesel Deluxe model is focused on providing our customers the value and key features they want in a vehicle, standard from the factory.”

Delivering a premium look and feel, the RANGER Diesel Deluxe is available in a sleek Matte Titanium finish, along with striking LED headlights. The LED lights deliver 60-percent more output than the traditional halogen lights for improved visibility in low-light conditions, allowing riders to stay outside for longer to get the job done. The standard steel wheels have been upgraded to new 12-inch black aluminium wheels with 27-inch 6-ply Maxxis tyres.

It’s not just the exterior changes that make the new Diesel more deluxe. Inside, riders will find an upgraded steering wheel with accent trim and premium branding and all-new seats with a contoured fit offering premium refinement, additional bolstering, and next-level comfort.

Fitted directly at the factory, the Ranger Diesel Deluxe comes with a pre-installed 8 vent in-cab heater, an under-seat box for enhanced storage, and a noise reduction system to create a more comfortable, quieter cab.

POLARIS RANGER

In addition to the all-new RANGER SP 570, the full-size RANGER lineup receives several upgrades for 2022. Polaris is always listening to its riders and dealers, and the new full-size lineup includes improvements that are a direct result of their feedback. More comfort and capability are critical for utility side-by-side customers.

For 2022, RANGER adds all-new seats. Redesigned seats offer next-level comfort thanks to upgraded cushioning and more premium material, while enhanced bolstering keeps riders more securely seated when traveling over rough terrain. Available on all XP 1000 models.

New colours have been introduced to the RANGER model lineup, RANGER XP 1000 Premium available in Matte Titanium (3-seat and crew models), RANGER XP 1000 Premium ABS in Ghost Grey. New for 2022, Polaris welcomes the RANGER CREW 1000 in Stealth Grey to the EMEA market.

POLARIS RZR

New colours have been added to the Polaris RZR Pro XP platform for 2022, with the RZR Pro XP Sport now available in Cruiser Black, whilst the Pro XP Ultimate model is now available in a Super Graphite option.

POLARIS GENERAL

Polaris GENERAL, the all-around adventure side-by-side that offers more performance, comfort and versatility than anything else in its class, sees new upgrades and options available for 2022. GENERAL 1000 Deluxe ABS two-seat model and GENERAL 4 1000 Deluxe model are now available in Steely Blue, and come with an upgraded synthetic rope with a new blacked-out, forged hook, aluminium fairlead and rubber isolator.

POLARIS ATV

Polaris Sportsman, the No.1-selling automatic 4×4 ATV, and Polaris Scrambler, the pure performance ATV, are now available in new colours across the utility, touring and sports line-up. The Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 is now available in Black Pearl, whilst the touring XP 1000 model is available in Navy Bue. The Sportsman XP 1000 S model also has a colour change to Super Graphite. For the Scrambler line-up, the Scrambler XP 1000 S now comes in Radar Blue for 2022.

Newquay GC welcomes Terra Float Air

Newquay GC welcomes Terra Float Air: The unique setting of Newquay Golf Club makes it an iconic coastal landmark. With Cornwall’s glorious surfing destination, Fistral Beach as backdrop, it sits high atop the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

For Dan Kendle, Course Manager, at the Harry Colt-designed links, summer has been as hectic as anything he can remember.

“There’s certainly not been much down time,” he admits. “It’s been mental for the last 18 months. The town has been so busy; actually, sometimes too busy, for infrastructure to cope.

“In the past, the club has never had vast numbers of groups of visiting golfers, just a steady membership made up of locals. However, tourist golfers are loving it. There have been days when there hasn’t been a single tee time available from seven in the morning through to six at night. We imposed a cut off at 7.00 pm for people as we literally can’t fit any more.”

Extra funds have meant Dan Kendle has bought a Wiedenmann Terra Float Air pneumatic seeder, delivered in September, something on his wish list for the last 6½ years since taking up post.

“We’ve never really had a proper overseeder, just a basic one. I considered two or three contenders, spoke to David Barnes at dealers, Mason Kings and narrowed it to the Wiedenmann. I chatted to other links managers who had bought the Air, including Paul Larsen at Royal St George’s. He couldn’t say enough good words about his… that was good enough for me … I had the demo and it backed up all I’d heard.”

The Terra Float Air combines three units in one. A base unit aerates and prepares a seed bed to a max depth of 30 mm by way of fine slits or spikes. Then the top-mounted pneumatic air seeder accurately distributes the seed either pre or post top dressing. Finally, a brush and roller combination gives a desired finish incorporating the materials and leaving the surface smooth. Thanks to finitely accurate electronic static calibration, quantities as low as 1.0 g / m² can be achieved.

Having had his Air less than a month, Dan, and his team of four full timers, have decided to try a few schemes to see what works best.

“In the past, we really only overseeded greens twice a year and annually some fairways.  This involved putting a blunt tine in the greens and the seeds via a broadcast spreader, but this is a different league. Going forward, we will start off overseeding greens probably every six weeks just lightly and see where that takes us. We’ll keep pushing the fescue low, maybe 4-5 grammes per square metre on greens and surrounds.  Tees will be two or three times a year while Fairways once or twice a year, up at about 8 – 10 grammes. Then we’ll review. We’ll be using Limagrain’s MM Coastal mix fescue, something also relatively new for us.

“It’s easy to get the Air on the tractor. The stored electronic memory feature is one of the brilliant details. Once you input your programme you don’t have to touch it again.

“Even before it had arrived word had got out that Air was on its way and a few nearby course managers have already asked if we will be hiring it out. We also own a Wiedenmann GXI8 HD deep aerator and the Terra Float Air are both very similar as they are totally reliable, and we can use them in every area of our course.”

David Barnes, at Mason Kings, Wiedenmann UK dealers for Cornwall, said:The Air also has an assured performance on undulations with good forward speed and leaves a very clean surface.   The beauty of the Wiedenmann is that it respects that seed is a very precious and expensive commodity and meters it so precisely there is no wastage. These days that is a big saving and brings peace of mind to a club or a contractor. With a much busier course, Dan and team can be out in a matter of minutes when opportunity allows.”

Campey welcomes Irelands Groundcare

Campey welcomes Irelands Groundcare: Campey Turf Care Systems has welcomed Irelands Groundcare as their new dealer for Lincolnshire and Rutland.

The Lincolnshire based machinery sales and hire group has a strong reputation in agriculture with over 25-years’ experience in the industry, and in late 2020 began to replicate that success in groundcare.

Campey welcomes Irelands Groundcare

Campey welcomes Irelands Groundcare

Offering high-quality machinery that solves their customers’ problems has been the cornerstone of the business since Jonathan and Fiona Ireland started the company in 1994, and the addition of Kubota Groundcare prompted them to seek brands of a similar reputation for their fine turf offering.

In Campey Turf Care, Irelands Groundcare Business Manager, Huw Price, found a company that offered leading machinery solutions for recurring issues faced by fine turf customers.

Huw explains: “We were reaching out to other businesses that had done a similar thing to us, and there were a couple of other dealers that were really helpful when it came to understanding the market and how it’s run. We wanted well-made machinery that is going to last. We don’t want to be the cheapest; we want to be the best with the right kit that we can stand behind and be proud to offer our customers.

“When we investigated the market, and what was available, we had previously used an Air2G2 which we had success with. We knew we needed a seeder for our groundcare offering, and we are lucky to have some experts in our company who are very experienced in agricultural seeders, and they told us the options we had, which led to us reaching out to Campey.

“Simon Holland came down with a low loader full of equipment that he recommended as our demo and hire stock, and one of those was a Vredo Compact seeder, and we’ve actually already sold one. So that and the Air2G2 were the things that drew us to Campey initially, and after meeting Simon, we there and then decided we wanted to sell Campey products, and we got five machines.

“We’ve already had people hire the Vredo, and we knew it would go well because it’s the sort of machine you might only need for one week a year and certain golf clubs in this area would find it more financially beneficial to hire it for a week and let us look after it for the rest of the time.

“The root pruner is another great example. It’s somewhat unique and solves a problem, but people might not necessarily want to buy one because it’s not something you would frequently use. But as a hire machine, it’s a great thing to have for three days to solve the leaching of the roots on fairways, and it makes financial sense.”

As part of their expansion into groundcare, Irelands are opening a fourth depot in Tinwell, Rutland, where their new turf team will be operating from May 2021 and will be available to offer advice and recommendations regarding their hire fleet and machinery sales.
