Tackle Spring Pests With Nemaslug and Nemasys

Tackle Spring Pests With Nemaslug And Nemasys: As spring edges closer, now is the time of year dedicated to patrolling your garden to make sure no pests take over. If steps are not taken to tackle your pests now, they can become damaging to plants and vegetables as we move into the warmer months. Taking action now will ensure your time and hard effort is not lost.

But as the weather starts to warm up, which pests do I need to tackle first? Over the autumn and winter months, vine weevil larvae stay beneath the soil and feed on roots, causing plants to wilt and die, and if they survive, the grown adult weevils then eat plant leaves during spring and summer, resulting in irregular-shaped notches on the leaves. Also, slugs begin to make an appearance from March as the British climate makes the perfect breeding ground for them.

Tackle Spring Pests With Nemaslug and Nemasys

Nemasys and Nemaslug offer the perfect solutions to pest control, and the various species grown by BASF, in the only specialist nematode production facility in Britain, can protect your plants from a variety of pests.  BASF grow six different nematodes, all of which are simply mixed with water and either applied from a watering can with a coarse rose or sprayed onto the foliage and soil, depending on the variety. There is no need to keep children or pets away from treated areas and the whole programme is entirely biological so that all the Nemasys products can be used by organic gardeners.

Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer: apply from March to October

Vine weevils are beetles with a long, thin snout. It is actually the larvae of the weevil that causes the main damage to plants, as they remain in the soil and eat the roots. Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer targets the larvae while they are still in the soil and kills them before they have a chance to cause damage.

A regular regime of using Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer every four weeks throughout the growing season is the best way to control the pets.

Nemaslug: apply from March to October

With each slug laying up to 300 eggs, in up to 50 separate batches during a season – that’s a lot of slugs! It is estimated that each cubic metre of soil can contain around 200 grown slugs. The best time to target slugs is when they are newly hatched, so the period between March – October is ideal. As nematodes are able to travel through the soil, to where the newly hatched and young slugs’ dwell, they are able to attack them before they are even in sight, unlike slug pellets.

A regular regime of using Nemaslug every six weeks throughout this period, from March to October, is the most effective way to keep slugs controlled throughout the growing season which will help keep your plants safe.

Star Dealership On Board With Jensen

Star Dealership On Board With Jensen: Momentum continues to grow behind the Jensen brand this year with the appointment of another brand-new dealer in the South West.

Elmstar Machinery, based in Newton Abbot, will be responsible for sales, service, parts and hire of Jensen woodchippers throughout the entire county of Devon.

Star Dealership On Board With Jensen

Elmstar has been trading for 10 years in 2019, celebrating its 10-year anniversary this January. With dedicated and well-stocked workshops, and coverage across all of Devon, Elmstar Machinery is an excellent addition to the Jensen network.

Jason Wignall, Elmstar Machinery Co-owner, is extremely pleased with the new partnership and is very excited to have the opportunity to work with the premium brand that is Jensen.

“We do sell a range of domestic and professional groundcare machinery, as well as chainsaws, but the adoption of a woodchipper brand opens up new and exciting potential for us in the arboriculture sector across Devon.”

“We are delighted to be able to add this established brand to our portfolio.”

This latest appointment comes hot on the heels of two other new dealership appointments in the UK, with Field and Forest Machinery, Scotland and P. Tuckwells in East England both joining the Jensen dealer line up in November 2018, and another in Kent coming very soon.

Now available to buy, hire, service and obtain spare parts from 19 dealer locations across the whole of the UK, Jensen is going from strength to strength. This is evident by the exceptional growth in sales and brand awareness throughout 2018, only the second year of trading as part of the T H WHITE Machinery Imports division and led by Business Manager Bill Johnston.

Naturally, Bill is excited with the continued expansion of the Jensen dealer network:
“2018 was an excellent year for Jensen, with a growing network of dealers across the country, a series of successful events in the Arb Show, APF and SALTEX, and increasing awareness across the industry of the world’s original woodchippers from Jensen.

“2019 is already looking like another exciting year, with even more high calibre dealers set to join the Jensen line up, and we are delighted to welcome Elmstar Machinery into our Jensen family. We are confident they will provide exceptional customer service and support for all things Jensen for our Devon customers.”

Improve Your Golf Course With Limagrain

Improve Your Golf Course With Limagrain: Visitors to the Limagrain UK stand (140), situated in the Blue Zone at BTME 2019, can expect to see a range of market leading products that can significantly improve both the quality and aesthetics of a golf course.

The demand and pressure placed on the modern day greenkeeper to produce a consistent playing surface continually grows at a pace. Seed quality, purity and vigour are the essential ingredients of a first-class golf course and Limagrain’s MM range of seed mixture provides exactly these.

Improve Your Golf Course With Limagrain

For a number of years, greenkeepers and course managers have been reaping the benefits by choosing the MM brand. All the varieties in the MM mixtures are thoroughly tested at the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) – ensuring that the finished product will meet your requirements for play, appearance and maintenance.

For greens, the traditional Chewings Fescue / Browntop bent mix, MM11, remains a popular choice in many cases and can be used from spring to autumn. It is ideal for new constructions and overseeding existing swards. A slight variation of which is MM10; both mixes are fine leaved, disease resistant and make good, dense putting surfaces. Where it is difficult to maintain fescue in the sward or where levels of wear are greater, many choose to use MM9 – a three way Browntop bent mixture – in late summer/early autumn for best results. For links style courses, sustainable golf or for early season overseeding, MM8 may well be the solution – a three way fescue mix with excellent disease resistance, drought tolerance and minimal fertiliser requirements.

If you are looking for a mixture ideal for tees then the all ryegrass MM50 should be considered. It is capable of rapid establishment and fast recovery from divot scarring. For large tees where play is less intense, MM22 is a viable option. Where damage and wear are minimal, use MM12 or MM13, both are suited to ‘Links style’ courses, are drought tolerant and have low maintenance requirements.

For fairways, adaptability is the key attribute because soil conditions, light and shade, contouring and wear will vary markedly in different areas of the course. Choose low maintenance, drought tolerant mixtures with creeping varieties where wear levels are low, such as MM12 or MM13 and select ryegrass mixes, such as MM22, on high divot or intense wear areas.

Visitors to the stand can also find out how Limagrain’s Wild Flower and Colour Splash mixtures have been benefitting countless golf courses throughout the UK and beyond. The mixtures are ideal for those wanting to bring a splash of colour to their golf course as well as attracting some fantastic wildlife.

With a wide range of mixtures available, both the Wild Flower and Colour Splash mixtures are extremely easy to sow and the resulting flowers are vigorous plants which are more than capable of competing with weeds. Their vigour is equally matched by robustness; resisting long periods of drought. They are also fast flowering and cost effective.

Limagrain’s amenity seed specialists will all be on hand at BTME to discuss the products in more detail and will also be available to offer their expertise on any queries you may have.

For further information, please contact Limagrain UK on 01472 371471 or visit the company’s website www.lgseeds.co.uk/mm.

Jensen Grow With New Dealers

Jensen Grow With New Dealers: Arb professionals across the UK are set to see even more from Jensen woodchippers over the coming months, with exciting new dealer appointments in the East of England and Scotland formalised recently.

Constantly growing both in awareness and popularity, the Jensen brand is synonymous with quality, power and longevity, developed by the business who manufactured the world’s first woodchipper in Maasbull, Germany, in 1884.

Jensen Grow With New Dealers

In the East of England, we are pleased to be partnered with P. Tuckwell Ltd, established in 1954 by Len Tuckwell and with 7 depots across Essex, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Suffolk, 3 of which will be offering Jensen sales, service and parts initially.

Tuckwell’s began selling groundcare machinery in 1986 and have since continued to expand and serve a wide variety of commercial industries, well established in their communities as machinery experts who supply high quality machinery and equipment.

Jason Clark, Forestry & Arboriculture Sales Specialist at Tuckwell’s commented, “we have identified the arboricultural market as being under-supplied in the Essex region and are looking to become a key supplier in this sector. Our new forestry and arboriculture line, launched in October, provides a wide-ranging selection of professional brands including tools, clothing, equipment in addition to the Jensen woodchippers.

Excited by the opportunity that the premium Jensen brand offers, Jason added: “Jensen woodchippers are a well-established and highly regarded brand within the arboriculture industry, manufactured to a high specification for optimum performance. Professionals will find the product to be a reliable option while reducing operator costs and improving productivity.

“Our carefully selected brands are recognised for being at the forefront of the industry, and Jensen’s products with their exceptional reputation will complement our existing machinery portfolio.”

Moving into brand new territory for the brand in Scotland, Jensen are now partnered with Field and Forest, who specialise in arboricultural machinery sales and hire. Field and Forest were first established in 2014 by Tom Brown and are delighted to be the first Jensen dealers north of the border.

Tom commented: “Field and Forest’s philosophy has always been to supply the highest quality machinery to the arb and forestry sectors – we see Jensen as being good, reliable, honest kit. We see the A530L as being a particularly versatile machine coming in at 750kg which means it is great for all users and can be towed without a specific towing licence.”

Based just outside Edinburgh in Broxburn, Field and Forest are the first Scottish dealers recruited by Jensen and will be providing sales, hire and service support.

“We are extremely excited to be working with Jensen and have taken delivery of our first few machines. Our aim is to build a short- and long-term hire fleet – and Jensen was the obvious choice of woodchippers having been tried and tested.”

In addition, the Jensen UK team has expanded with the full-time recruitment of Nathan Jacobs as a Jensen specialist sales representative. Nathan joined the business in the summer and has spent several months learning the ropes with the Jensen distributor as well as working with the team at T H WHITE Groundcare to develop his understanding of the brand from a dealer and end user perspective.

“I’ve been working in the arborist sector for ten years,” Nathan recounts, “initially as a field engineer and then moving into management of groundcare and treecare machinery hire. “I am enjoying my role within the Jensen UK business, it is a great challenge and I’m looking forward to continuing to build the brand across the country, supporting dealers and working with the manufacturer to reach the full potential that we know is possible for the Jensen brand.”

Nathan is a dedicated Sales Representative for the Jensen brand across the UK, working with Business Manager Bill Johnston to support the ever-growing dealer network and customers across the UK.

Naturally Bill is delighted with the expansion for the brand:

“The Jensen brand is ever-increasing in awareness, popularity and market share, and we are pleased to welcome new dealers into our growing network, especially in the East of England and Scotland where we see huge potential for the business in partnership with Tuckwell’s and Field and Forest.

“Both dealerships bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table in a range of sectors and I’m looking forward to working with their teams to develop our business in their regions alongside our existing selection of dealers across the country.”

Jensen continues to expand its dealer network across the UK, so keep your eyes peeled for even more new dealer appointments over coming months.

ISEKI Dealer Thrilled With Results

ISEKI Dealer Thrilled With Results: Llyn ATV in North Wales signed up with ISEKI in the late spring of 2018 after a review of what product lines they could add to their portfolio that would suit their customers’ needs for diesel mowers and small tractors.

Will Owen the manager of Llyn ATVs commented “ the grass conditions here in North Wales are so lush due to the amount of rain we get and most manufacturers products simply will not cope with these difficult conditions when cutting and collecting” Will went on “ when we tried the ISEKI products we were amazed as to how well they coped with the conditions and we sold our initial stock in the first few weeks, getting an order from every demonstration that we did”

ISEKI Dealer Thrilled With Results

David Withers, Managing Director of ISEKI UK, when asked about the Llyn ATV success story added his thoughts “We are pleased, but not surprised, that Will has had the success he has, many dealers are finding that the ISEKI range fits very nicely above the petrol powered variants that they already sell and meets the more demanding customers’ expectations” he added “ ISEKI mowers are the best cut and collect units available and combined with a strong line up of compact tractors the range can be a real game changer for dealers around the UK”
