Dennis & SISIS Confirm Cricket Day

Dennis & SISIS Confirm Cricket Day: Dennis and SISIS have announced the date for their popular cricket renovation day for 2018. The event will take place at Cheltenham College on 7 August and those wishing to attend are encouraged to register soon to avoid disappointment.

Since 2011, the Dennis and SISIS series of seminars have seen over 1200 cricket groundsmen in attendance, bringing together volunteers and professionals representing test and 1st class venues, club cricket, schools, colleges and universities. High quality speakers and interesting topics has ensured these seminars quickly gained a reputation as a ‘not to miss event’ with groundstaff travelling considerable distances to be in attendance.

Dennis & SISIS Confirm Cricket Day

The August event at Cheltenham College, will be a mix of thought provoking indoor presentations and discussions with outside practical demonstrations – with plenty of time built into the programme for speaking with your fellow groundsmen. There will also be a number of high profile, well respected industry sponsors in attendance offering support and advice.

“Following the highly successful seminar held at The Brightside Ground, Bristol in 2017, the decision to return to Gloucestershire to continue our ‘For the groundsmen by the groundsmen’ series of educational seminars was a relatively straightforward one and we hope delegates find the event informative, but above all enjoyable,” commented Roger Moore, sales and marketing manager at Dennis and SISIS.

The day includes a talk on profile reading and autumn renovations from turf consultant Alex Vickers and an overview on renovations from contractor Keith Exton of Perfect Pitches.

The morning will finish with a soil core clinic led by Keith, Alex and Ian Smith, turf consultant from St Albans School.

After a complimentary lunch, groundsmen can attend two practical sessions; one on end of season renovations and the other on aeration. Cheltenham College head groundsman Christian Brain and Robert Jack (Dennis and SISIS) will join the delivery team for the first of those while Jason Briggs from Dennis and SISIS will lead the final session alongside Keith Exton.

The day will end with a question and answer session with the panel of experts.

Attendance to this informative seminar is free and seats are expected to be filled extremely fast.

Football’s “Made in England” Pitches

Football’s “Made in England” Pitches: Sunday’s World Football Cup Final, the first-ever to be staged on a revolutionary hi-tech playing surface, is set to deliver a multi-million pound boost to SIS Pitches, the English firm behind the groundbreaking technology.

Cumbria-based SIS Pitches installed its hybrid surfaces using patented fibre injection technology with undersoil aeration system in six of the 12 tournament venues, including Moscow’s 81,000-capacity Luzhniki Stadium, which will host Sunday’s decider between France and Croatia.

Football’s “Made in England” Pitches

Luzhniki’s pitch uses SISGrass, – 95% natural grass reinforced with 5% synthetic fibres – and SISAir, a unique aeration system capable of removing a deluge of rain from the surface in just five seconds, whilst optimising root moisture via a network of undersoil pipes.

George Mullan, CEO of SIS Pitches, said: “With around one billion people expected to watch the final, there’s clearly pressure to get the pitch in top condition, despite it being used for over 60 hours – the equivalent of a full Premier League season – in the past five weeks. That would have been impossible on a traditional all-grass pitch.

“Everyone has been raving about the quality of football at this tournament and our pitches have certainly given Modric, Lukaku, Mbappe and Kane a brilliant platform to perform on. The feedback we’ve had from everyone involved has been hugely positive. It’s the first worldwide showcase for these technologies to be combined at a World Football Cup final and it’s performed perfectly.”

The six World Football Cup stadia using SISGrass are Luzhniki, Spartak, Samara, Kaliningrad, Saransk and Rostov.

Having installed over 80 hybrid surfaces worldwide, including English Premier League sides Chelsea, Newcastle United, Fulham and Bournemouth, as well as Scottish champions Celtic and the English FA’s St George’s Park complex, with Barcelona to follow, SIS Pitches predicts annual revenues will grow from £55m to £65m in 2019.

Mullan said: “We’re seeing huge interest from professional sports teams in the US and Japan, as well as the enormous American university sector and we’re installing eight SISGrass pitches in France this summer alone.”

Founded in 2001, SIS Pitches employs over 340 staff worldwide, with manufacturing headquarters in Maryport, Cumbria.

GreenMech At APF 2018

GreenMech At APF 2018: Europe’s top-selling wood chipper manufacturer GreenMech will have a vast range of machinery on display on stand 80-110, in the outside area, at this years APF exhibition. In addition, visitors will also have the opportunity to find out about a number of special deals and flexible finance options available exclusively at the show.

Next year sees the introduction of new, more stringent Stage V emissions standards covering diesel engines above 26hp, so a particular highlight on the GreenMech stand will be the petrol-powered Arborist 130 and Arborist 150p models. The Arb 150p is fitted with a 37hp Briggs & Stratton Petrol engine which can offer comparable performance to the higher horse-powered diesel engines, but at a much-reduced cost. For those users who prefer diesel power however, GreenMech’s popular Arborist 150 powered by a Kubota 26hp engine, remains in the range and is unaffected by the new regulations.

Also on show, for the first time in the UK, will be GreenMech’s new Combi 200 wood and green waste processor. Based on the successful Arborist 200, it features a robust conveyor and a large in-feed chute to make loading safe and easy.

GreenMech’s reputation is built on innovation; their original patented SAFE-Trak extension system broke the mould for tracked chippers, allowing independent adjustment of each track, to traverse slopes of up to 35o with ease. All of GreenMech’s hydraulic machines also come fitted with their patented disc-blade system as standard – giving the operator up to 3 times the life of conventional straight blades before requiring re-sharpening. Their full British designed and built range of Pedestrian, Road-Tow, Turntable, Tracked and Tractor-Mounted machines are also supported by a 3 Year “No Quibble” Parts and Labour Warranty.
