TAG confirms new Shropshire depot

TAG confirms new Shropshire depot: Tallis Amos Group (TAG) has confirmed plans for a new depot in Shropshire at Allscott between Shrewsbury and Telford. The announcement follows TAG’s confirmation in July that it had been appointed as the John Deere dealer to cover Shrewsbury and Newport in Shropshire. The new depot is due to open in October 2022.

TAG was formed in 2012 when two long standing John Deere dealerships, Alexander & Duncan and Chris Tallis Farm Machinery joined forces. The company traces its roots back to 1912 and has been supporting farming businesses in the West Midlands for over 100 years, with 56 years as John Deere agents. Currently operating four depots in the West Midlands and Wales at Evesham, Kemble, Leominster and Narberth, TAG already has plans to open an additional site near Lampeter in October this year. Employing a team of 130, including skilled after-sales teams and experienced sales representatives, TAG has a comprehensive range of other machinery partners including Kramer, Pottinger, Sumo, Pichon, Shelbourne Reynolds, Sulky, AW & Bailey Trailers and many more.

To ensure that the company can deliver outstanding support to customers throughout the Shrewsbury and Newport area, TAG is now actively recruiting Sales, Parts, Service, Precision Ag and Administration staff. Rea Valley Tractors (RVT) continue to be authorised dealers until 31st October 2022.

Simon Amos, TAG Agricultural Sales Director, said: “The new depot in Allscott is perfectly positioned to support farming and contracting businesses throughout Shropshire. Although there will be some work required to get the site ready, we’re confident we can be up and running within a few months. We are also investing heavily in Parts and Service capacity at Leominster to further support customers from South and West Shropshire.”

Eve Tubb, TAG Group HR Manager, said: “At 40,000 sq. ft, the Allscott site will become the biggest in group. Anyone interested in a career at TAG can contact me directly in confidence at eve.tubb@tallisamos.co.uk.

“With a current team of over 130 we are looking to recruit an additional 30 people to help fully support Shropshire customers. The company offers attractive rewards and outstanding long term career opportunities.”

Mega Twister blows in new era

Mega Twister blows in new era: Buchanan Castle Golf Club, at Drymen, is within touching distance of Loch Lomond. Twenty miles from both Glasgow and Stirling, the parkland course, designed by the legendary James Braid, lies in the foothills of the Scottish Highlands.

At the start of summer, Buchanan Castle’s well known head greenkeeper, Ronnie Myles, retired after 15 years, and his role has been taken up by two joint Head Greenkeepers, Chris Prior and James Macdonald.

Chris and James have been with the club for 3 years and 4 years, respectively. They share a commitment to present the best course they can for members and visitors all year round.

“Communication is key and, so far, we’re into a good system,” said Chris. “We discuss and agree priorities and projects well ahead. Every morning, first thing, we confirm that day’s tasks.”

“We know what the other is working on,” continued James. “When things change, we keep in touch.”

One of their first decisions was the purchase of a Wiedenmann Mega Twister blower from Scottish dealer, Fairways GM at Inchinnan, Renfrew, when their existing blower started to fail. The Mega Twister offers a 390 m³/minute capacity and a 230° swivel action.

Buchanan Castle’s team of five normally cut grass across the whole course on Mondays and Thursdays during the season, using a blower to tidy loose clippings from the surface.

“This blower has everything we were looking for,” said James. “It’s turning circle comes in very handy. Getting in and around greens and bunkers is a whole lot easier. With our earlier blower you had to drive over greens to blow cuttings and debris out of play. This has extra power, in-cab hydraulic controls and easy rotation. You can park up in one spot yet still achieve more. Making fewer tractor movements ultimately is kinder to the turf and quicker.  The Mega Twister has been here less than a fortnight but already we are saving lots of time on the fairways alone.”

The Mega Twister is the second Wiedenmann machine in the club’s fleet.

“Last season, we purchased a Super 500 primarily for leaf collection,” continued Chris. “When you have as many leaves as we do, there comes a point where collecting them is the only way. Last year the old blower blew leaves into sections and the Super 500 lifted them. That made a real difference. Come this autumn when the leaves start to fall, the Mega Twister and the Super 500 combined, will make the whole operation easier and faster still.”

Fairways GM’s Stuart Cameron, said: “The continuous airflow on the Mega Twister is powerful enough to shift leaves and debris effectively across wide areas, even while damp.

“With the hydraulic ram option, the operator in the cab can adjust the nozzle height up and down as well as from side to side, letting you react to conditions. With all that swivel going on there’s no need to back up or stop. The goose neck nozzle which Chris and James chose, provides even more precision.  The support wheels also protect the turf. It’s a topflight blower.”

Etesia UK welcomes new dealer

Etesia UK welcomes new dealer: Etesia UK is delighted to welcome Abrey Agricultural to its vast dealer network.

The Abrey’s are originally a farming family which went into the machinery trade, and son Toby started importing specialist agricultural machinery from Austria. He did so for twelve years, before starting a groundcare division in 2012. This side of the business quickly grew, and he now supplies a variety of leading groundcare brands.

Etesia UK welcomes new dealer

Etesia is the latest brand to be added to the Abrey portfolio after Toby saw it as an opportunity to grow the business.

“I’m certainly hoping to reach new customers with the Etesia machines,” he said. “I want to progress and do more work with the Cambridge colleges, and you need good brands to offer them. If you haven’t got enough in your range, then you are limited. Etesia fits a treat in this respect.

“There are also many affluent areas around here and we have customers with big gardens. They all need something bigger, stronger, and better than what they are using, and this is where Etesia comes in.”

Etesia has been leading the way in building high quality grass cutting machinery for both the professional and domestic market since 1989. Over the years the company has grown rapidly and now offers a wide range of products that include a variety of walk-behind, ride-on mowers, green technology, the popular Attila range of brush cutters and the all-new award-winning ET Lander electric utility vehicle.

Toby added that his first experience of using an Etesia machine was hugely positive.

“I originally tried an Etesia Hydro 124 diesel ride-on mower, and it was raining at the time,” he said. “It wasn’t a problem though and it picked everything up in the wet – there was no doubt about it. I didn’t have to unblock it – it unblocks itself. It is a very impressive machine.

“Another big benefit of the Etesia machines is that you can take the grass box off and put a drop chute on the back in seconds. You can’t do that on many other machines.

“The Etesia brand has a great reputation; they are very versatile, strong machines that do the job.”

Abrey Agricultural, based in Saffron Walden, Essex, will be offering the full-range of Etesia products within an approximate 30 mile radius.
