Dog Handler Rescued By Tractor

Dog Handler Rescued By Tractor: When Mary Grant dislocated and broke her ankle at work, paramedics were struggling to find a way to get her safely to the ambulance. Mary, a senior dog handler at KDW Doggie Day Care in Kelty, Fife, was teaching puppy agility at the centre when the accident occurred on May 16th.

There are twenty-five acres where the dogs can run and exercise and she was stranded in a hilly area a big distance from the car park. Quickly on the scene the paramedics attended Mary and had her strapped onto the wheeled stretcher. The question was, how to get it across three undulating fields to the waiting ambulance?

“Even though she was obviously in a lot of discomfort, she still saw the funny side when she laid eyes on the makeshift rescue vehicle. No air ambulance for her I’m afraid.” Said Debbie Clarke, KDW’s owner.

Instead, they hitched up the centre’s own Countax 4×4 garden tractor to the trolley and carefully towed her out. Mary is due an operation and will be in hospital for a short while. She says she’ll remember the day, not for the accident but for being rescued by a garden tractor.

Tractor Stolen From Football Club

Tractor Stolen From Football Club: Staff at Eastleigh FC say they are “gutted” after a tractor worth £19,000 was stolen from their ground.

It happened at the Silverlake Stadium on Sunday night.

The Head Groundsman Dan Barnes arrived for match day preparations on Monday to discover the tractor had been stolen and the extent of the damage left behind.

Dan says there was “no remorse” by the people who stole it.

“It’s extremely upsetting. Not just for myself but for the football club as a whole. It’s a massive inconvenience financially and we now have to go through insurance claims. In terms of using the tractor itself, we’re now approaching renovation periods and that’s one of my main pieces of equipment that I’ll be needing to overseed and prepare the ground, so it’s a massive inconvenience.”

The tractor is used primarily at the end of a season, where it is used to overseed and prepare the ground for pre-season friendlies in July.

Hundreds of people on social media have been retweeting the picture of the tractor in the hope of helping the club to recover the vehicle.

Reesink Grow Small Tractor Range

Reesink Grow Small Tractor Range: Reesink Turfcare’s range of small tractors is expanding with the launch of the nimble TYM T194.

With the agility of a mower and the additional features and practicality of a small tractor, the T194 adds a completely new dimension to the TYM range.

Reesink Grow Small Tractor Range

The T194 joins the popular subcompact TS25 to bring customers who don’t need a larger framed mid-duty model but need the most amount of power, productivity, versatility and efficiency one compact package can offer, more choice.

TYM sales manager Steven Haynes says: “We’re responding to customer demand by adding another small product to our range of tractors. It appears customers, predominantly those with large gardens or small estates, and contractors, caravan parks and many sports venues, want a powerful option in a compact package. When it comes to towing, moving and maintenance tasks, these tractors are more than capable.”

Designed to appeal to customers looking to more commercial alternative to the ride on lawn mower and those wanting a small multi-purpose product, the T194 takes this to the next level and more. TYM had simplicity and practicality in mind when designing the T194 and because of this they have equipped it with features which customers are sure to appreciate, such as a powerful dual range HST transmission which includes the fatique busting “auto throttle” system which conveniently links the HST pedal to the engine throttle.

A simple and easy to understand dash panel is fitted to give the operator an overview of all of the tractor’s functions. In addition, TYM has worked on the overall control layout on this new model to ensure the tractor is easy to use with all key controls falling neatly to hand.

The T194 is equipped as standard with a 54-inch mid-mounted deck, with cutting heights from one to four inches. Mowing heights can be adjusted from the operator’s seat via the onboard height-of-cut lever which is easy and intuitive to set.

In addition, the T194 can also be specified with a front loader, further enhancing the uses for this small but powerful machine.

For customers looking to do more, the tractor has been equipped with category one three-point linkage and 540 rpm rear PTO which allows for numerous rear-mounted attachments to be fitted and enabling it to be used for other tasks such as sweeping and aerating, leading Steven to say: “The T194 is a true all-season machine.”

Increasing the power in Reesink’s small tractor offering is the TS25. Upping the ante from 19hp in the T194 to 25hp in the TS25, the TS25 has been appealing to a similar audience as the new T194 for a few years now, delivering all the benefits of the T194 but with more power. With a hydraulic lift capacity of 600kg, it’s renowned for delivering superb value and outstanding performance. An optional front loader and mid-deck further increases its versatility opening it up to many more applications.

Steven concludes: “Reesink brought TYM to the UK market because its tractors deliver enhanced performance and engineering excellence. These smaller tractors are no exception to that. They provide our customers an effective but compact solution for their turf maintenance needs.”

Trubshaw Cross Praise New Tractor

Trubshaw Cross Praise New Tractor: Andy Salt, chairman at Trubshaw Cross Ladsandads, has said that a new Branson 6225 Trac-tor recently bought from Campey Turf Care Systems, has been more than just a new piece of machinery.

In 2016 the North Staffordshire club took over their own maintenance from Stoke-On-Trent Council and purchased several new machines including an Imants Shockwave 155, Sisis Twin Play and a TriMax Pro Cut S3.

Trubshaw Cross Praise New Tractor

Whilst there has been a significant increase in pitch quality, resulting in each pitch being able to host more games per season,  Andy and his team of volunteer groundsmen were starting to feel the ill-effects of working in the elements on their old tractor that didn’t have a cab, but after only two weeks with the Branson there has already been a lot of progress.

“Because we’re all volunteer groundsmen the time of day we do the work is in the early evening, and the time of year we’re using the ShockWave it’s in the dark and cold weather,” Andy said.

“We were at a point where we weren’t using the machine as much as we wanted to because we were sitting on a tractor that didn’t have a cab or heaters, so we were sitting in the weather.

“Some of the groundsmen were getting ill because they were sat out in the cold and the rain and were having to take time off of work, so we bit the bullet and bought the Branson through a grant from the Stoke-on-Trent Council Community Fund.

“We got the tractor just over two weeks ago and the impact that it’s made already is monumental. I was down here last night straight from work and cut the pitches in about four hours whereas on our old tractor it took eight hours.

“We put some liquid fertiliser down so we’re cutting five days a week just now and we wouldn’t have been able to do that with the other tractor.

“The mower we got from Campey six months after the original purchase is another fantastic bit of kit and that’s the Trimax Pro Cut S3. For us, it’s easy to use and cheap to maintain, which is important for us going forward within our budget.”

“All of the improvements we’ve been able to achieve already with the new Branson benefits everyone who plays. Within the North Staffs Junior Youth League, which is also a part of our organisation, there are just over 300 teams from all over North Staffordshire and South Moorlands, which is a good few thousand players,”

“The improvements we have made here has meant we’ve almost doubled in team numbers, and that was part of the grant application to get the new tractor, it’s about everything else we can do. That one tractor isn’t just about making the pitches better, it gets more teams playing and then you need more referees, so we’re training more of them and then the café gets busier so we’re employing more volunteers for that, so it’s the whole picture of it, it isn’t just a tractor.”

Having made their 11-pitch site at Burslem a success, Andy now works with four other branches within the Ladsandads organisation that carry out their own maintenance. By doing this the club hopes to make the transition easier than it was at Trubshaw Cross, with Andy and his team starting with a base level of knowledge which has quickly grown to planning their own renovations through the help and advice of Campey and the IOG.

“From the very first time we met Richard Campey we thought it would be better to have our own equipment. He spent a very wet and horrible bank holiday Monday with us going around the site and I visited him at their yard. He talked us through the machinery, but that very first meeting gave me the confidence to take on self-management,” Andy explains.

“It’s been a very steep and very fast learning curve. When we first started I knew grass was green and that was about it. Since then we’ve put our own IOG level 1 course on and there were 14 of us on that course, we pulled in some volunteers from other branches of Ladsandads that are also self-run and now there’s a bit more of a collective.

The help from Andy Jackson Head Groundsman at Stoke City FC who has been advising us on behalf of the IOG has also been invaluable, and without that collective help from everyone, we would have been stuck. Now we’re in a position where we can pass on all the lessons we’ve learnt so the other branches can improve even faster.”

New Tractor From John Deere

New Tractor From John Deere: John Deere’s new 3038E compact tractor is an economical and versatile machine suitable for a wide range of customers, which includes landscape contractors, groundscare maintenance service providers, sports turf managers, rural property owners and equestrian operations.

The 3038E is equipped with a powerful, emissions-compliant Stage IV diesel engine developing 37.3hp. A hydrostatic transmission with Twin Touch foot pedals provides the operator with simple, comfortable controls to select exactly the right speed for the job at hand.

Combined with power assisted steering, the Twin Touch pedals are intuitive and easy to use and enable the operator to maximise productivity. The tractor’s independent pto can be engaged on the go, eliminating the need to stop and use the clutch. The 3038E also features an easy-lift bonnet that provides wide-open access to the engine bay for maintenance.

A new 300E front loader has been designed to complement the 3038E and features a curved boom and durable components. Together with the tractor’s tight turning circle, this offers a highly manoeuvrable combination for materials handling, whether working indoors or outdoors. Four-wheel drive is available as standard for more demanding applications and difficult ground conditions.

The 3038E compact tractor also offers telescoping draft links as a factory or field installed option. This makes attaching and removing rear implements very easy and increases overall performance in the field. This option is compatible with a wide range of implements, including mowers, rear blades and posthole diggers.

“This new tractor is easy to operate, easy to maintain, easy to own and easy to buy,” says Carlos Aragones, John Deere’s European turf segment manager. “No matter what the task, the 3038E compact tractor delivers John Deere quality and reliability at a budget-friendly price.”
