Three new dealers for Corvus: BOSS ORV has appointed three new 4×4 Corvus utility vehicle dealers. Joining the growing network selling the Corvus Terrain Diesel Side by Side are Anderson ATV, Cheltenham GM and OHG ATV.

“We’re pleased in the current situation to be able to expand our dealer base,” says Phil Everett, BOSS ORVs Managing Director. “We’re able to meet the demand for Corvus in much wider locations and know there is full service and support to back the product.”

Three new dealers for Corvus

Anderson ATV is a long-established ATV specialist in the North East of England, selling, repairing and servicing all makes of quads/ATV’s and accessories. Until the partnership with Corvus, they had no UTV to offer.

“We knew Phil and had talked for a while.” Says Paul Anderson. “The Terrain looks a quality machine and it complements our line-up. We’re pleased to be Corvus dealers, it’s the start of a new journey as we had been looking to expand into the work machine sector. This is a natural fit for all of us.”

Cheltenham Garden Machinery was established in 1971 as a family business and is now a main dealer in the Cheltenham area for many leading brands. “We have a strong customer base including local authorities and utility companies.” Says Manager Alex Matthews. “Situated in the lower high street of Cheltenham on the main one-way system through Cheltenham town centre, we get a large amount of traffic passing our front windows every day, so it is important for us to display new and eye-catching products to draw people’s attention. This is why we chose Corvus. It is not only a great looking product that will catch attention but also in our view one of the best build qualities in the UTV market.”

BOSS had been looking for a suitable partner for South West England for a while before linking up with OHG ATV, the well-established Devon dealership.

“We had a gap in our range of new machines we needed to fill.” Says Lloyd Gove. “We had customers asking us for a Diesel UTV and it happened that BOSS was looking for a Corvus dealer for the area. It’s the ideal match as we cover the whole of Devon and West Somerset.”

The Corvus Terrain Diesel is the first European manufactured 4×4 Side by Side utility available in three models: Terrain DX4 EPS, Terrain DX4 PRO EPS and Terrain DX4 CAB EPS. Corvus features a normally aspirated, inline 3-cylinder 993cc Yanmar Diesel engine which is Euro 6 compliant for reduced emissions. Terrain models are homologated to T1b tractor regulation and have a top speed of 40mph/65kp/h. Corvus says it is building the Terrain for work primarily in agriculture, livestock, forestry, turf care and construction but they are highly adaptable vehicles ready for any demanding off-road workout.

Bespoke PRG mix improves Billingbear Polo Club: Having been down for over 25 years and showing the signs of significant thatch build-up, the fields at Billingbear Polo Club were fully renovated for the first time in the autumn of 2019.

Part of the King Power Polo group, the renovation was conducted by Shorts Agricultural Services, with a bespoke 100% perennial ryegrass mixture by DLF delivering the deep-rooting, hard wearing coverage demanded for equestrian use.

“A renovation of this scale had never been conducted before but with the field becoming slippy and areas breaking up easily, the time was right” explains Billingbear Head Groundsman Damian Chec. Long-standing contractor partners Shorts were called in, to fraise mow, aerate, seed and topdress the surface in August last year.

“When it came to the seed, we had a specification to work to which we gave to Craig Spooner at DLF Seeds” says James Winfield, Manager at Shorts. “I’ve worked alongside Craig on a number of projects in the past and know that DLF will deliver a mixture that meets the spec provided but that also takes into consideration any complexities of each individual site. The support and advice we received was excellent and is part of the reason we wouldn’t use anyone else for our seed requirements.”

To deliver rapid establishment, quick germination and a hard-wearing sward, Craig blended a bespoke 100% perennial ryegrass mix featuring top-rated Johnsons Sports Seed cultivar Monroe – adding exceptional recovery and disease resistance to the list of mixture properties. James and the team applied the seed in September and, despite very challenging weather conditions over the winter, only minor overseeding was required in the spring in one particularly compacted area of the pitch. “We achieved good, strong and even growth and coverage that looked superb” comments James.

The deep rooting nature of perennial rye has also improved the surfaces playability when fixtures re-commenced in early September 2020. “The condition of the field has dramatically improved. The issues we were having with divots and areas breaking up have been completely eliminated” adds Damian.

The recent renovation marks the start of a broader programme of site improvements, including plans to install a brand-new drainage system in the not too distant future.
