Turf Matters Big Winner at the TOCA Awards Again!

Turf Matters Big Winner at the TOCA Awards Again!: Turf Matters proved that last year’s triumph in the International Turf and Ornamental Communicators Awards was no fluke by winning big again in the delayed 2020 Awards.

Turf Matters Designer, Tim Moat, won two categories for Best Cover (May-June 2019) and Best Single Page Design, while Editor, Scott MacCallum, also took two Firsts – a first equal in the same category of Best Writing, for Stadium of the Future (Nov-December 2019) and What a Rush! (Sept-Oct 2019).

Turf Matters Big Winner at the TOCA Awards Again!

In addition, for the second year in a row, Scott was awarded the Gardner Award for the Best Overall International Entry for his Stadium of the Future, article which focussed on the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium and the great work Darren Baldwin and his team carry out.

“Tim and I are absolutely delighted. We always strive to bring our readers the best possible magazine and we feel that by winning awards our work is rubber stamped,” said Scott.

“Having independent industry experts assess our work is a useful exercise whether we win Awards or not. That said it is much more gratifying to win!” he added.

Turf Matters was joined in the winners’ enclosure by Greenkeeper International Editor, Karl Hansell, and Designer Libbie Waddleton, who also picked up several awards.

P Tuckwell to acquire Burden Bros Agri dealership: John Deere is pleased to announce that the owners of P Tuckwell Ltd have reached an agreement to acquire the Burden Bros Agri Ltd John Deere dealership business, which covers Kent, East Sussex and parts of Surrey for both agricultural and turf equipment.

This will bring the total number of Tuckwell outlets to 10, including the existing dealerships covering Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

Both parties are working towards a completion date of the end of October 2020, when the Burden Bros Agri business will join the Tuckwell group and be fully owned and managed by the Tuckwell family. The intention is that all employees will transfer as part of the sale and the three existing Burden Bros dealership branch locations at Stockbury and Ivychurch in Kent and Framfield in East Sussex will be retained.

“I would like to express our gratitude to Dale and the Burden family for the outstanding job they have done in supporting and growing the John Deere brand in south east England since becoming a dealer just over 13 years ago,” said John Deere Limited division sales manager Joedy Ibbotson.

“We are delighted that they have reached this agreement with Tuckwells, which ensures the continuity of the Burden Bros team and dealership outlets within the John Deere network. This is a great fit, combining two businesses with closely aligned values based on outstanding customer service with a focus on precision technology and connected support.”

Dealer principal James Tuckwell added: “The acquisition shows our total commitment to both the ag and turf industries, and consolidates our standing as one of the UK’s leading machinery dealerships. It also enables us to build on BBA’s hard work and support our customers, new and old, by delivering exceptional customer experience.

“The combined dealership will be in a strong position to make the future investments required in facilities and technologies, proactively support our customers, develop our teams and continue growing in a responsible and sustainable manner. Such growth gives a strong platform that will enable our business to continue building on the great legacy that my grandfather started 66 years ago, while keeping our core value of looking after people at the forefront of our planning.”
