Dennis heading to Daytona: Dennis Mowers will be continuing its annual tradition of exhibiting at the Sports Field Management Association’s (SFMA) Conference & Exhibition, which is taking place at Ocean Center, Daytona Beach, between 22 – 25 January 2024.

As Dennis continues to fly the flag for British turf maintenance equipment, it is no surprise that many of the machines are being relied upon by many turf managers in the states. The British manufacturers have reported great success over recent years at the SFMA Conference & Exhibition.

At the event attendees can expect to see two of the company’s most popular products – the G860 cylinder mower and the PRO 34R rotary mower.

Dennis PRO 34R

This unique 34” (860mm) rotary mower has been designed to help turf managers achieve an aesthetically pleasing appearance and desired playing surface. It is ideal for sports pitches and lawns producing the enviable ‘Dennis Stripes’ while a powerful vacuum flow collects debris quickly and efficiently. The angle of the cutting deck and twin blades can be easily adjusted using a single ‘click adjuster’ ensuring the mower is suitable for changing conditions and meeting groundsmen’s requirements.

The PRO 34R features 5 forward and 1 reverse selection for speed of operation, a front brush for standing grasses upright and a 2 section cast aluminium rear roller.

Dennis G860

The Dennis G860 cylinder mower features a large diameter front roller with an adjustable scraper which has been designed for a precise height of cut control, giving an excellent finish. Weighing just 166kg, it is light and extremely versatile due to the interchangeable cassette system. With a simple one-minute changeover, users have the option of fitting a range of different types of heads including scarifiers, verticutters, brushes, spikers, and slitters.

Paul Smyth named General Manager at Wembley: Wembley Stadium connected by EE has promoted Paul Smyth to the role of Stadium General Manager.

Smyth moves up from his previous position as Head of Event Operations. He will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of events at the stadium, in addition to managing day-to-day operations.

Having been part of the Wembley team since the new stadium opened in 2007, Smyth has contributed to numerous enhancements in event delivery, maintaining Wembley’s status as one of the world’s premier multi-purpose venues.

Recent accomplishments include the collaborative effort with his teams to introduce two sensory rooms and British Sign Language (BSL) at every event. These initiatives have played a huge part in reinforcing Wembley’s commitment to leading on inclusivity.

Smyth’s promotion coincides with the departure of Stadium Director Liam Boylan, who, after nine successful years, is embarking on a new venture in the music industry next year.

Chris Bryant, the current Director of Tournaments & Events at the FA, will serve as the Interim Stadium Director while the search for Boylan’s successor is underway.
